"When I went looking for someone to paint my home, I found it confusing and a bit daunting that there were so many painting companies in Tucson. I picked Arizona Painting Company because of the excellent customer service they brought to the process. They did a complete inspection of my home, pointing out issues that needed to be addressed, then gave me a comparable quote that I decided on over anyone else. The inspector/sales representative then gave me a tentative date to start the project. I was contacted by Arizona Painting Company 2 weeks earlier than the quote date to schedule the complete painting of my home which consisted of the whole exterior including the running board around the eves, the garage door, and the front door. They patched all the stucco and holes in the walls and accepted the color choices I gave them since I live in an HOA community. They assigned me an excellent individual to manage the project. Rene Gonzalez texted me every day to let me know when they would be arriving, did all the preparation on the home, and painted my home in less than three (3) days. I am ecstatic about the results. This Company is top-notch. From start to finish. I HIGHLY recommend them for your external and internal painting needs."

"DNA custom painting did a wonderful job on painting the outside of my tiny home. My house had a lot of sun damage and needed hours of scraping, chalking and some additional boards to secure warped siding. Nestor helped with picking the perfect paint and color. The work was done carefully throughout. I love the fresh look on my home! Highly recommend!"

"We would highly recommend Painting Green and owner Bob Angolano for any type of painting project. We have used Painting Green for serveral interior and exterior projects over the last four years. Most recently some touch up ceiling work and repainting a rod iron fence. Once again Bob and his team provided high quality work. The patch and touch up is flawless and undetectable. Our pool fence has never looked better. Additionally, Bob's team is considerate, respectful, and organized. As a result, we have referred them to numerous people."

"Moved into new construction painted by the "Break dancing Royal." Horrible diluted flat paint everywhere. Contacted Heon Paint. They were 1. On time (everytime), 2. Provided competitive quote. 3. Stuck to quote even after having to use additional product due to the cheap original base coat. Will use them again and again."

Customers say: True professional

"My husband and I hired Vista SC Painting recently to complete some projects before we have the exterior of our home painted. The work that Vista Paint completed on our house was the following: 5 exterior doors + large front entrance door were refinished (sanded, stained, and sealed—front and back), they did a re-stucco and re-seal of the parapet walls, and they re-coated and sealed the roof. Bryan was very communicative via emails, texts, and phone calls; we value clear communication in general, but it is especially important during home projects where scheduling, logistics, and our specific requests and needs are concerned. Bryan also gave us a more favorable quote out of 3 quotes we got from other contractors, so we were pleased with his fair pricing. We plan to contact Vista SC Painting again fairly soon to schedule an exterior paint for our home and the wall that surrounds our property based on the positive experience we had with them."

FAQs for painting projects in Tucson, AZ

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
