"R&A Painting always does a fantastic job and the price is always very reasonable. Rodrigo is friendly and easy to work with. I just had my whole house interior painted and it’s perfect! I’m a Realtor and always recommend R&A to clients and friends and everyone is always happy with the results. I wouldn’t use anyone else."

"We had southend do 5 rooms. 2 offices , a master bedroom with a large trey ceiling, a large bathroom with a barrel ceiling and a large closet. They are efficient, clean, very polite and did exactly what I asked them to. Down to picking up our bed to move it instead of dragging it as others have done. It’s a very large king. The Owner Todd Cahill called and discussed some questions I had and Billy the estimator and Otto the job foreman also answered all my questions and left me no doubt as to what would be accomplished. Thank you Southend painting for a beautiful job !"

"Though weather twice delayed the start of painting, once started, the painters accomplished the overall task. However, the job foreman was a little hard to understand with his English so communication about some details became frustrating. I called the office to have one of the operations managers to call me back -- never got a call back."

"Kenia and crew did an amazing job for a beyond fair price on my accent walls. They showed up on time, took care with the home as they setup to paint, and followed through on all commitments. This excellent experience led to my asking Kenia to estimate the price of painting the whole house from ceiling to baseboards including patch repair - the price was right and work commenced within the week. Once again the crew came in and did a top notch job in an efficient manner - even patching a ceiling crack we didn't know was there until the 1st coat of paint went on at no extra charge. They installed wainscot trim, painted some pieces of furniture that needed to be refreshed. Totally amazing work and very professional experience. They've now been hired to re-paint my kitchen cabinets to complete my house overhaul. I feel very fortunate to have found Kenia/Carolina Painting & Remodeling LLC through Angi and have already referred friends that have contracted the team to have work completed that are also fully satisfied with the quality of work. You'd be very lucky indeed to have this wonderful team take care of your painting and general remodeling needs :) ."

"Garth came on time, and took care of all that I asked for. The curtain rod was falling off, it’s perfect now. The wall by the tub was moist and paint was peeling off, looks like new now. And multiple smaller items were fixed. Garth did a great job, had a pleasant demeanor, I would hire him again."

"Workers were competent, but did not clean up well, The original price and things promised; shingling repair over bay window and along side of garage were poor. Estimate (6750.00) and final bill (9575.00) was off by almost 3000.00. He did not remember the original estimate and had to point out to him that some of the work was not extra, but included in the original estimate. The discovered wood damage was not an issue and I had no problem paying for that repair, but given the repairs and cost, I could have had my entire house painted for what I was charged, my house was only painted in spot areas. He quoted 2000.00 per window for 2 replacements, which I declined. I received no updates on the price change, nor any discussion prior to receiving the final bill. As I said his workers are competent, but I did not like what he promised in customer service vs. what he delivered.

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.
Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.
Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.
You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.
Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.
Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
