"I would highly recommend Jimdandi Painting for any painting needs. For us, they did a fabulous job on our home exterior. I could not have been more satisfied! Note that this is not a typical painting company: the owner Dan works with just two other men and it was obvious that all three took great pride in their work. When Dan came to do the estimate he did an excellent job first listening then explaining their process and materials. He made it clear that they wouldn't be the cheapest because their company and approach are different. Dan carefully customized the service based on our situation. For example, with our house, the builder did a poor job installing the HardiPlank siding, thus there were loose boards and many more nail holes and gaps than would have otherwise been present. Dan suggested a different grade of chalk that would expand and contract more than the typical painters chalk that is applied and can be painted over immediately. In this case, after the house was thoroughly cleaned, the crew checked and secured all loose planks, scraped and chalked, and then allowed the caulk to cure for a week before starting the painting. This is just one example of the care Dan and his crew took during the job. Bottomline, if you want and excellent job that I'm convinced will perform and look great for many years, contact Jimdandi Painting."

"Excellent people to deal with! I hired whites to paint my rusty metal barn roof. They explained my options and gave me a fair price. They did the work while I was at work and I mailed them a check. highly recommend!"

"We had some electrical work done that resulted in needed drywall repair (part of which was ceiling work). Victor was out the next day and did a fabulous job. He is very professional, cleaned up everything and was fairly priced. He came when he said he would and the drywall repair is awesome. You cannot tell there was any repair at all. We have now hired him for some painting work. I highly recommend."

Customers say: Quick response

"Costello Painting did an amazing job! Hugh and his brother were friendly, professional and super easy to work with. Early in the project, they had painted some of the railing and we didn't like the color we had chosen from the brochure once it was on the deck; they went back to get different paint twice until we were satisfied with the color - no problem. It was almost 90 and humid (of course) today and they still seemed like they were having fun staining our deck in the hot sun! Cleaned up after and even left us with some extra stain for down the road. These guys clearly love what they do and I would hire them again in a second! A+"

"Nathan Rude has finished several small and large paint jobs in my house over the past few years. From day one, I appreciated his kind and gentle manner paired with his professional competence as a painter. One of his strengths is his willingness to be a color and paint consultant as well as the person who does the paint job. For example, he has helped me sort out the type of paint I needed, weighing the pros and cons with me. He shares up front the exact price or price range of a job. His estimates have always been reasonable and very competitive. While painting, Nathan keeps me abreast of the progress. Once he begins a job, he approaches it in a deliberate and timely manner. If he sees something that needs fixing, he fixes it, giving me a heads up if it is something significant. At the end of the job, he cleans up and leaves no mess. I appreciate this a lot. Additionally, if he is unable to complete a smaller or sub-task, he returns later to finish his work."

FAQs for painting projects in Gwynneville, IN

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
