"We had four North-Easters blow through and 2 of them just ripped our old siding to shreds. Mid-Atlantic siding was the first contractor to respond to calls for help (and after long delay due to dealing with insurance) the original quote was still good and still the lowest. This company shows up on time and stayed within the quote. The Siding looks better then when we bought the house and they pointed out why the original job failed and what we needed to do to fix it. Note: They advised us on multiple options on how to repair or replace the siding, and while many were cheaper, we decided to do the full replacement. Our friends and family have commented on how nice our siding looks. They even worked with us to avoid the need to order costly custom parts by repainting the old parts that were still good. This company doesn't play the normal contractor games and is honest provides good information and advice to find you the best solution. We are very pleased with the quality of the work, the professionalism of the workers and how quickly they were able to schedule and complete the work (24 hours after agreeing to the job specifications and estimate price)."

"Mitchell was on time every day. We discussed layout and length of time needed on this job. Mitchell was right on the money and extremely professional. He cleaned up every day and his work is impeccable. Working with Travertine in a bldg that's approx 90 years old was quite a challenge. Mitchell knew exactly how to level off the floor and he also had to work around kitchen cabinets that were already installed. Beautiful job Mitch we're very happy. "I am a person who likes to reward someone with pride in the quality of their work, which is why I am writing this review. We needed someone to power wash our house and roof, paint the exterior of our house, and scrape and paint the window frames on the exterior of our house. After going through Home Advisor and reading Mikes reviews both on this site and online, I called him for an estimate. His estimate came quickly. Im the type of person that I dont trust you until I trust you, especially with work being done on our house. He told me multiple times that his work would speak for itself, and he also showed me pictures of previous work he had done and repeat customer work. His estimate was a fair price for the quality of work that was given to us. Mike arrived on the first morning and began power washing our house. Our roof was laden with algae and moss patches. He spent a significant amount of time scrubbing the roof because he didnt want to harm our roof shingles. Our chimney was completely black, and it looks incredible now. The power washing job was just the way we wanted it, and it looked like a new house. And then he started painting the house and scraping the window frames and repainting them with two coats by hand (not sprayed on). Mikes attention to detail and the quality of work he did was everything he said it would be. He was very professional and courteous and polite. He always put dropcloths down so as not to harm even our outside landscaping. In order to paint the one side of our house, he had to trim some of the bushes and even cleaned up the bushes and put them in garbage bags so we did not have to do it. Mike cleaned up after himself daily, and I can assuredly say he went above and beyond to do a good job. I would highly recommend him without reservation and plan to call him for some interior painting within the next year. I recommended him to all my neighbors and even my friends on Facebook, and I wouldnt do that unless I implicitly believed in his work. Even my dogs loved him!"

Leave exterior painting to the pros. Not only do you need to worry about the type and quality of the paint, you’ll also likely need a ladder and considerably more prep work. You’ll likely need additional equipment like ladders, scaffolding and possibly a paint sprayer. It’s almost cheaper to just hire a pro. Talk to a local exterior house painter about your project.
- Do your research. Understand what to expect and what to look for in a pro. Look at paint types, prices and costs.

- Sign a contract with the pro of your choice. You might need to make a down payment, usually 25% to 50% of the total project cost to cover material costs, but not all pros require this. Don’t pay for the entire project upfront.
- A complete inspection. Each pro takes a walk around your home to evaluate the condition of your current paint, the size of the job and any obstacles for accessing the site. They do this to see how much prep work they’ll need and estimate how long the job will take. The more thorough the inspection, the more accurate the quote.
- Color consultation. Expect each contractor to have varying color options and suggestions. However, you have the final say.
- Listen to the pro – they’re experts after all – but don’t get pushed into a color combination or finish type that you don’t want. Understand the different exterior paints or interior paint choices before your pro arrives.
- A rough estimate or complete quote. Finishing contractors vary here. Usually, they can quote straightforward projects on the spot. But some may need to take it back to their shop to run numbers and give you a detailed estimate with costs broken out. Neither method is better than the other, but just make sure to get multiple quotes.
- How long have you been in business? A long business history helps you avoid shoddy companies. It’s hard for a service business to stay in business if they don’t do good work.
- Are you licensed and insured? Not all states require a license for painting homes, but many do. Always use one that’s insured.
- Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
- Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
- How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
- How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
- Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
- Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
- What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
- Can you supply a written estimate and contract? Never use a painter who isn’t willing to put his work in writing.
