Customers say: Quick response

"Dustin offered us a fair and competitive quote to paint the interior of our house. He was responsive via phone and text. We had a few reattacks after his team was complete (some missed spots and a miscommunication about one of the rooms) -- he remedied the issues promptly. The painting was done professionally and attention to detail, particularly around the baseboards and ceiling, was great overall. Our house looks very sharp! Thanks, Dustin."

"They did wallpaper and painting for me. They had quite a crew! They did everything I asked and were happy to make changes, going above and beyond for me. Really communicative, responsive, and professional. For the amount of work they did in all the different areas of my home, I felt the price was reasonable. I was very pleased with them. I plan on using them again when I'm ready to paint my exterior!"

"I can’t praise Julian’s work enough. I was very pleased and look forward to having him back in the near future. He was prompt, persistent and proficient with an eye for detail, while focusing on the job at hand. Watching the care he took in his painting, including removing old paint coatings, applying various finishes, including primer, sealer and two coats of high quality paints, he also took the time to obtain the desired color needed. Along with all this, his pricing was more than fair for a job well done. Also, something you don’t experience everyday is, he wouldn’t accept my check until I approved all his work. In closing, I sound like an advertisement, but I’m trying to make the point of how pleased I was with his work. Thanks again Julian. See you again soon for some interior painting I need done."

"Excellent. Serious pealing required considerable work, often at difficult to reach second story. Job was done well. Akena's charge for all work was exceptionally reasonable. Parenthetically, in addition to painting skill, it should be mentioned that he was professionally knowledgeable, for example, he determined why paint had pealed and suggested how to prevent future erosion. Mr. Akema was found to be a particularly friendly individual with whom we enjoyed doing business. We recommend him and his company without reservations."

"Project went very well. Beau was very friendly and did an excellent job on our interior. In addition to painting, we had some fairly large holes in our walls from hanging shelves and Beau also patched these for us (they looked as good as new). Our 10 year old house looks like new again, I will definitely reach out to Beau again for our future painting needs."

FAQs for painting projects in Ithaca, NE

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
