"PBH did several house projects for me, including installing gutters and fancy fascia under my roof eaves. The work was perfect and all the workmen were polite, neat and clearly dedicated to making a perfect finished product. When they left, they cleaned up my entire yard. I would definitely rehire this company!"

"He fixed all the cracks on my Spanish home! He primed some areas, then he added a special chemical to his paint so water doesn't penetrate the home . He was so reasonably priced! They prepped the home before hand so they didn't spill a drop, very clean! I had something was missed, and they came right out no problem no extra charge! I'd rate a ten if I could!"

"This is the second time we have had Ron Rice Painting & Consulting paint the exterior of our home and re- stain our deck. In this most recent job, Ron worked closely with us to find a new color that would complement our house. He was patient and thoughtful during this process. Once the color decision and date were determined, Ron deployed a competent crew to prep, paint and stain. All his painters are considerate, thorough and detailed in their work. Ron Rice stands by his work and ensures his customer is thoroughly satisfied and happy with the job. I would not hesitate in recommending RRP&C to any individual or business for quality painting."

"Luis and Larry worked with me on getting my painting projects done.  They were very accommodating regarding my schedule and what I wanted done.  Each room had a different color.  They prepared the rooms and cleaned up after they were finished.  After they had left and the paint had dried, I noticed a few small areas that needed touching up.  They were very happy to return and take care of it.  I will certainly call them back when I have another painting project.

"I purchased off of Angie's List 2 painters for a day from Jesus A Painting. Jesus brought his team to our home at 7:30am and the painters stayed until after 5:00pm to complete the painting in 2 large bedrooms including doors and trim. The two painters (Pedro and I have forgotten the other painter's name) were professional, knowledgable, friendly and courteous. They did not take any shortcuts and clearly took pride in their work. My husband and I are extremely pleased and will contact Jesus for our next painting job.

FAQs for painting projects in Jacumba, CA

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
