"I am so pleased with my experience with Hedlund Painting. I contacted Zakary to repair trim / banister damage from an anxious puppy, as well as paint my kitchen cabinets and walls. I could not be happier with the result. Micah, the project manager, was on-time, detail-oriented, and caring in my home. I really appreciated how he stayed on top of the project, and that the project completed on time. I also want to credit the MASTERFUL painter/carpenter, Jesus, who painted our kitchen to PERFECTION and MASTERFULLY repaired our trim / banisters. I could not be happier with the outcome. Jesus was meticulous, skilled, polite, on-time, and a general delight to have in our home. I could not recommend Zakary, Micah, and Jesus enough - I will definitely be reaching out to Hedlund again for future home projects."

"PacificPro Painting did a great job. We had attempted to paint ourselves and it did not turn out the way we liked. Vadim’s team was on time, professional, kind, and finished our project for us quickly. I was so thankful for his team. We even had a section of our home improvement project that was not complete and they said as soon as it’s finished, they would come back to make the rest match. Painting is hard."

"Christian and Nicolas did a very lovely, precise painting of my precarious interior stairwell area. They chose high quality paint that covered well, there were no drips left over, and they did a great job cleaning up afterward. Their mood was happy and they were courteous and professional to work with."

"Would hire Mike again. He worked on a paint bubble problem I had on the side of the house and was able to use the right stuff so the bubbles did not come back. He and his crew are meticulous in their painting, very neat and clean."

Small jobs welcome
"Quality Choice Painting is my new go-to for painting. Yanci quoted me $2000 plus tax for the company to pressure wash, supply quality paint, and paint two sides of my 2-story house. She and Juan kept in great communication with me and were always very professional and in good spirits. The work was done in the timeframe discussed and the quality of the work, attention to detail, and clean-up was great. The part of the house the company painted looks beautiful. When the job was done, I asked Juan if he would give me a quote on the front soffits. $200. I was pleased that they do "small jobs", too, and would continue to work within my budget. This is a solid, dependable, kind company that does beautiful work."

"These guys were great! I love the way our house looks since they painted it. The only knock I have is that the was a lot of small trash scattered in the yard and I was unhappy that I had to pick up cigarette butts left in the yard also."

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.
Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.
Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.
You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.
Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.
Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
