"I am not one to rate so highly, but Steve and his team were awesome from the start. The job was a big one, (whole house texture and paint with multiple sheetrock repairs. Miguel his team leader was communicative, efficient and eager to please by correcting issues swiftly, and even offering to repaint a room for us as we had told them the wrong color. "Francisco and his team in Homeimprove Construction were a pleasure to work with. This was my fiance and my 3rd remodeling experience. We remodeled 3 bathrooms, the kitchen, the living room, and the laundry room. I m so glad we hired Francisco. We worked with a 3-D designer and we gave the plan to Francisco who made them a reality. He was easy to get in contact with and very responsive by phone and text. During any design decisions, he always made sure to check in with what we wanted. He was flexible and a very reasonable person. He works with many renovation experts and knows the right people to call for electrical, custom cabinets, tile work, and roofing and engineering. My fiancé and I are very particular perfectionists and everything was completed to the highest degree of workmanship. After the project was completed we noticed a slight problem in one of the bathrooms and within one day he and his team were back there and quickly addressed it with no hassle. "Lupe did a very good job painting my Livingroom, Dinning room and several hallways. He also took down my popcorn ceiling and then had to texture and paint that it now looks wonderful. They were on time each of the 4 days that they were here, they worked steady all day and cleaned up everything every night when they left around 5 pm. "Mary and her crew have worked on my home for over 6 yrs. They have worked on both the exterior and interior. All new siding, woodwork, and painting on the exterior. They did a complete remodel on the interior floor plan. Which included knocking out load bearing wall and installing an engineered beem. Arturo and Arthur work very hard and efficiently. - A rough estimate or complete quote. Finishing contractors vary here. Usually, they can quote straightforward projects on the spot. But some may need to take it back to their shop to run numbers and give you a detailed estimate with costs broken out. Neither method is better than the other, but just make sure to get multiple quotes.
- How long have you been in business? A long business history helps you avoid shoddy companies. It’s hard for a service business to stay in business if they don’t do good work.
- Are you licensed and insured? Not all states require a license for painting homes, but many do. Always use one that’s insured.
- Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
- Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
- How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
- How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
- Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
- Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
- What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
- Can you supply a written estimate and contract? Never use a painter who isn’t willing to put his work in writing.
