"I had a small water spot that I wanted fixed. It turned out to be a MAJOR project with alot of hidden water damage! Ian helped me find a contractor to replace the damaged wood, fix the roof leak and then he replaced all the drywall, put new insulation in the wall, painted everything, even repaired the crown moulding. Then cleaned everything up, put furniture back. It looks great, as if all that damage never existed! And at a reasonable price!!!!! Highly recommend Top Tier!"

"Great first impression! Mr. Hernandez showed up on time for an estimate and when hired, showed up on time with the proper equipment and a crew of experienced workers. They worked non-stop from 8:30 am until the job was complete around 4:00 pm. Power washed the whole house. Brick, stone, concrete , siding, awning and painted all the aluminum siding and porch ceiling. Everyone was respectful and professional. I would recommend to anyone needing their services."

"A loud BOOM startled me about a week ago, it shook the house. I own half of a large twin built in 1900. I checked inside and out, but found nothing. Several days later, my neighbor knocked on my door and told me that my chimney had fallen over on the upper roof. Looking on the internet I used Home Advisor and several contractors came up. I sent the same Emergency message out to 3of them and Rafael called me within 5 minutes. ( None of the other contractors have yet to call). He came out that day, went up on the roof and evaluated the damage, took pictures of the damage and explained what needed to be done to fix the damage. He gave a price that was lower than I had expected. Rafael said he would do the job, but he had jobs lined up the next few days. But he called his Saturday job and explained he had an emergency roof to fix. He and his crew were here at 900am, worked all day, completed the job, and cleaned up everything that came off the roof. I loved his professionalism and communications so much, Iâm getting my father in law to call him for a roof replacement. Thank you so much Rafael, if I ever have need for services you provide, you will be my first call!"

"Total removal of front stucco wall and rebuild with brick plus installation of new cornice, steps, door. Workers among the most professional I have had and the result is fantastic. Very high quality workmanship. Not cheap but "value" is more than price alone. Also, John provided support when we were not home and a PECO workman almost caused a fire -- he fought (successfully) to have them fix the problem with their wires which would have affected our house. Liked the work so much, I had them do another job right away rebuilding back steps and lowering crawl space in basement. Quickly done and great job. Good guy. Highly recommend."

- A rough estimate or complete quote. Finishing contractors vary here. Usually, they can quote straightforward projects on the spot. But some may need to take it back to their shop to run numbers and give you a detailed estimate with costs broken out. Neither method is better than the other, but just make sure to get multiple quotes.
- How long have you been in business? A long business history helps you avoid shoddy companies. It’s hard for a service business to stay in business if they don’t do good work.
- Are you licensed and insured? Not all states require a license for painting homes, but many do. Always use one that’s insured.
- Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
- Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
- How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
- How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
- Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
- Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
- What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
- Can you supply a written estimate and contract? Never use a painter who isn’t willing to put his work in writing.
