"NB Painting was very professional. Kept the site clean each day. Delivered what was promised. The painting is excellent and the wall prep was just as good. Price was competitive and the work was completed without delay. I recommend NB Painting and would hire again. The owner is very personable and listens to your expectations as well as offer recommendations. Thank you Nick."

"Mark did a wonderful job with doing a stain on our front door. He was efficient and friendly. He communicated the steps he was taking and asked for our opinion when our input was needed (color, type of stain, etc.).He responded in a timely fashion to my inquires. The paint job changed the look of the house and made it look fresher. I would definitely hire again for future projects."

"Had them paint majority of our new house including a full 2 story living room. Excellent work, on time, and went above and beyond and put an extra coat on the ceiling in the kitchen at no extra cost to make it look better. Would highly recommend and will use them for any future paint projects."

"Gezim nilaj construction. Did everything i needed out side. Major job on my shed. fixed wood around bottom of shed fixed wood on roof and reshingled, fixed doors on shed they were dragging hinges broken off. Put all new lights up around the house 5 of them, just being nice I bought lights. Stained my deck. It was really bad. Had to rebuild 5x6 area. Whole deck is about 12 x 30 feet. Painted whole house and shed. 3 different colors. Doors were one color overhang and trim one color house another. No bad spots any where. He ended up doing 3 coats of paint. House was never painted for 13 years I owned it. So must of been dry. Power washed all of it. Filled all cracks and holes. He came here to paint house and shed turned into so much more. I pay extra for some of the extra work. His work is 5 stars all the way. So happy we picked him to do job. Jims Dad is great carpenter. He helped with deck and roof fixed doors. Just amazing."

Customers say: Quick response

"John was extremely awesome to work with! He was very prompt with responding to messages, and we were able to get a fair price for his interior painting services. He was able to paint the wall and ceiling of our tall living room with ease. He also cleaned up after the project was finished and made sure were were satisfied with his work before he left. We highly recommend him!"

FAQs for painting projects in New Baltimore, MI

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
