"Custom Painting did an outstanding job of staining our 30 year old buildings. Additionally many or our homeowners have used Custom Painting to paint their interiors. They always showed up as scheduled and where very professional when dealing with the association or homeowners. When we had a couple of issues that weren't noticed until months later, they came out quickly to rememdy the situation. I would highly recommend Custom Painting and will continue to use them for any of our painting/staining needs."

"We hired Friendly Painting to refurbish our very sizable deck including retaining walls and built in planters and railings. Zack and his crew were efficient, neat, friendly and very professional. The work was pretty involved but the price was very fair. They replaced several rotted boards and railings, power washed, sanded and then stained all the wood involved. They took great care not to damage the plants. All debris was removed promptly and the entire area left clean. The deck looks fantastic now, like new, and we are very very satisfied with all their hard work and the finished project. We would highly recommend Friendly Painting for any projects and will use them in the future."

"Calico painting recently painted the interior and exterior of our home, and from start to finish I honestly canâ t imagine a better experience. Luis and his team were incredibly professional and communicative - always showing up on schedule, giving accurate time estimates of how long projects would take, responding promptly when we called or texted, and letting us know if there were changes or questions came up. Their work was meticulous, beautiful, and efficient. When unexpected water damage wreaked havoc partway through the project, they jumped right in on the repairs to help keep things on schedule. Throughout our fairly extensive renovation we often commented that Luis was the best person we worked with because he was SO reliable, a great communicator, and his teamâ s work was always high quality. They did beautiful plaster repair, wood staining, cabinets, interior paint, exterior paint, and even some woodworking for us. Luis also helped us troubleshoot issues with other subcontractors on our project. We loved working with Calico Painting, will absolutely be calling Luis for more projects in the future and have already recommended him to friends."

"We have had great experiences with Colorful Mountain! We originally hired them to paint the interior of our house which was no easy task. We have a two-story craftsman style home with LOTS or wood beams, etc. They are great communicators, on-time and schedule, and didn’t go over their original quote, did a fantastic job and were much more reasonably priced then other companies (stay away from One Day Painters!). We then hired them to replace some wood posts on our porch. Again, they did an excellent job. We will definitely hire this company again!"

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.
Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.
Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.
You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.
Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.
Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
