"Guy Ouellette Painting and his crew did phenomenal work for us! He went above and beyond helping paint my first home and provided professional consultation when we had water damage to our second brand new construction home. My first home I was anxious to move in with fresh paint and new color scheme. Guy new which colors were trending and provided a color scheme that exceeded my expectations. He and his crew worked diligently and with such great attention to detail. His communication with me on the status of the work was greatly appreciated and he got my first home ready for move in a timely manner. We will definitely be using his services again! Guy Ouellette is a man you can trust and know he will get the job done right. Thank you Guy!"

"We had Mike of Specsurf Painting paint a kitchen, bathroom/laundry room, the exterior of the house and stain a deck. He did a tremendous job. He is reliable, patient, a true professional. His ability to match paint to a 33 year old vinyl siding was perfect. We could not be more pleased. We would highly recommend his service and company."

"Pete Pontecelli of P&S Services was industrious, experienced, and personable. His price for the painting job he did for us was fair and the work was first-rate. He was also conscientious about cleaning up the job at the end of each day. We wouldn't hesitate to hire him again and we've recommended him to several of our friends. ~ Wally Lamb Mansfield, CT"

Customers say: Quick response

"If you're looking for a company to do a quality professional paint job at an affordable rate I highly recommend Jonathan at Unique's Painting! I submitted a request for an interior paint project on the Angi app. Jonathan not only contacted me immediately, he also came to my house that same day to give me a quote. I hired him to paint 3 rooms in my new home. The existing paint job was horribly done and almost every wall was left with small holes and lumpy bumpy surfaces. Jonathan and his team did an amazing job at filling, sanding, & prepping the walls and trim prior to painting and as a result the final paint job in all 3 rooms turned out fantastic!! During the process Jonathan even repaired several damaged areas on the tin ceiling before painting it and sent me video updates since I wasn't there. I will definitely be calling Unique's Painting for all my future paint projects and you should too!!"

"Our home is an antique house built in 1800. Brandon gave us an estimate and it was priced fairly. His crew arrived on time and their work ethic was great. They paid great attention to detail and their preparation and paint work was excellent. They respected the character of the house. I would recommend Capital Painters to anyone."

FAQs for painting projects in Tolland, CT

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
