"We had four North-Easters blow through and 2 of them just ripped our old siding to shreds. Mid-Atlantic siding was the first contractor to respond to calls for help (and after long delay due to dealing with insurance) the original quote was still good and still the lowest. This company shows up on time and stayed within the quote. The Siding looks better then when we bought the house and they pointed out why the original job failed and what we needed to do to fix it. Note: They advised us on multiple options on how to repair or replace the siding, and while many were cheaper, we decided to do the full replacement. Our friends and family have commented on how nice our siding looks. They even worked with us to avoid the need to order costly custom parts by repainting the old parts that were still good. This company doesn't play the normal contractor games and is honest provides good information and advice to find you the best solution. We are very pleased with the quality of the work, the professionalism of the workers and how quickly they were able to schedule and complete the work (24 hours after agreeing to the job specifications and estimate price)."

"Craig did a wonderful job on my deck. I had a few loose boards, some spindles that need to be fixed and I had a very dirty deck He always kept in touch with me on when he would be out to do some work. Always returned my calls too. We did have a few weather set backs but he did let me know when he would be able to do the deck. I was also told that if I had any problems with my deck that he would be out ASAP to take care of my problems. Very reasonable price for the amount of work that he did I have already recommended to a few of my friends. You will be happy you hired him. "I had an old wood fence that was in desperate need of painting. The existing paint was peeling in multiple areas due to age and the elements. In addition, I had also previously replaced some of the boards but they were unpainted. I just did not have the time to do it myself and if I hadn't done something soon, I would have had to replace the fence. Greg, the owner of the company, came to my house, on time, for the estimate. He walked around the property with me and listened intently to what I wanted done. He was professional and provided me with a quote that gave me the biggest bang for my buck. His team showed up on a Friday to power wash the entire fence and they painted the entire thing the following Monday. I cannot express how happy I am with this company's work!!! It literally looks like I had a new fence put in. In addition, the company did some additional power-washing on the roof of my garage and painted the door of my garage. The team also gave the left-over paint to me for future use. Their quote was very reasonable and more than a third less than another quote I received. I would definitely hire Good As Gold Again and would recommend them to family and friends."

But some may need to take it back to their shop to run numbers and give you a detailed estimate with costs broken out. Neither method is better than the other, but just make sure to get multiple quotes.
- How long have you been in business? A long business history helps you avoid shoddy companies. It’s hard for a service business to stay in business if they don’t do good work.
- Are you licensed and insured? Not all states require a license for painting homes, but many do. Always use one that’s insured.
- Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
- Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
- How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
- How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
- Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
- Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
- What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
