"Dennie worked hard to satisfy my requests. Both the exterior painting and internal repairing of a crack in my laundry room were done expertly. I greatly appreciated his kindness and attention to all details."

"I waited to post my review. Bob and his nephew came and painted my barn roof which was quite rusty. On cloudy days you could see a line where the paint overlapped. I called Bob and let him know that it wasn't exactly what I expected. He and his nephew came back out a couple of weeks later and put another coat on the roof, no charge. His nephew even painted some trim on the barn that has rusted, no extra charge. I am very pleased with the service and the quality of the work. I would happily recommend them for their painting. Very friendly people."

Customers say: Quick response

"Costello Painting did an amazing job! Hugh and his brother were friendly, professional and super easy to work with. Early in the project, they had painted some of the railing and we didn't like the color we had chosen from the brochure once it was on the deck; they went back to get different paint twice until we were satisfied with the color - no problem. It was almost 90 and humid (of course) today and they still seemed like they were having fun staining our deck in the hot sun! Cleaned up after and even left us with some extra stain for down the road. These guys clearly love what they do and I would hire them again in a second! A+"

"Paintco made my project a very positive experience for me. Matt was very helpful with details of setting it up . The on-site crew was professional, courteous, and efficient. I especially appreciated their work ethic. They painted siding as well as replaced boards and stained the deck of my home. I was very pleased with the finished product and would certainly hire the company again"

"Zamora Painters have the knowledge , experience and expertise that made us so happy we hired them. They power washed, prepped and painted and cleaned up so very well. I have referred them to several neighbors. It has been one year since they completed our home and it still looks like it was just painted. They are extremely professional and courteous. We highly recommend them."

FAQs for painting projects in Whiteland, IN

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
