"We have hired Custom Colors for two different painting jobs in the past 7 years. They are very professional. They have a crew that arrived on time every day, worked surprisingly quickly, and kept the work areas clean. They kept us informed throughout the process. Their bid was very competitive, and there were no surprises on price or timeline...the job cost what they said it would cost, and they started and finished on time based on their original estimate. Overall - this company is very professional and does excellent work. Also, the owner (Mark) is very visible and accessible throughout the project. We will continue to hire them in the future.

"I would highly recommend Jimdandi Painting for any painting needs. For us, they did a fabulous job on our home exterior. I could not have been more satisfied! Note that this is not a typical painting company: the owner Dan works with just two other men and it was obvious that all three took great pride in their work. When Dan came to do the estimate he did an excellent job first listening then explaining their process and materials. He made it clear that they wouldn't be the cheapest because their company and approach are different. Dan carefully customized the service based on our situation. For example, with our house, the builder did a poor job installing the HardiPlank siding, thus there were loose boards and many more nail holes and gaps than would have otherwise been present. Dan suggested a different grade of chalk that would expand and contract more than the typical painters chalk that is applied and can be painted over immediately. In this case, after the house was thoroughly cleaned, the crew checked and secured all loose planks, scraped and chalked, and then allowed the caulk to cure for a week before starting the painting. This is just one example of the care Dan and his crew took during the job. Bottomline, if you want and excellent job that I'm convinced will perform and look great for many years, contact Jimdandi Painting."

"I Hired ONiT painting to paint my dad's 1600 sq. ft. home. They did an amazing job! My dad's home was a darker color and had a ton of imperfections in the walls & they cleaned up all the walls, freshly painted and did an excellent job. The crew was timely & cleaned up well. The estimator was very nice, honest & extremely professional. All of their staff took appropriate Covid precautions & we felt safe welcoming them into our home. Their estimate wasn't the most expensive nor was it the cheapest, it was priced just right. They're professionalism took them over the edge and we knew they'd be the perfect fit for what we wanted done. I'd recommend them to anyone needing painting work done! Plan to hire them again for additional projects. Thanks for the great work!"

"F.I.S.H. is phenomenal!!! Their work was fantastic, but let me start with what separates them...customer service! In an era where calls are not returned and people don't show up for service appointments, FISH was stellar in proactive communication and working with me on a critical need, even though their schedule was full. They fit me in, talked me through all the work, showed me how I can do some of this in the future my self, if needed, and are awesome people. They treated my home and family with respect and it was a great two day partnership. I am so blessed to have found this business and be able to share so others find them as the right painting and drywall company. I look forward to more work with them in the future of painting the exterior and basement ceiling finishing. THANK YOU again!"

"These guys are the best. Period. They ve painted two barns and fence at one of our properties two years ago. And this summer stained a deck, pergola and privacy fence. The difference w Whites is the prep work. Anyone can paint or stain. The longevity comes from the prep work."

"Although this review is long overdue (the work was completed almost 8 or so years ago), I felt it was important to share our positive experience with Rickleff Painting. Rickleff Painting painted our living room, bathroom, and one bedroom, and the quality of the work has truly stood the test of time. The paint was applied evenly, the lines were clean, and the finished spaces looked fresh and professionally done. Years later, the walls still look great with no issues related to workmanship. The job was completed efficiently, and the areas were left clean and well cared for. It’s rare to look back years later and still be impressed, but that’s the case here. I would confidently recommend Rickleff Painting to anyone looking for reliable, high quality painting work."

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.
Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.
Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.
You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.
Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.
Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
