"Due to foundation settling we had lots of cracks in the dry wall. We had them come in patch and paint, and touch up where necessary. 5 rooms total plus the garage. Their color matching was practically perfect. There were some hiccups and we did have to have the crew back out to get everything to 100%, or at least to an acceptable level. But they were eager to get everything to a state I was happy with and that's exactly what I wanted. I'm quite happy with the final result."

"We're in HEAVEN! We rehired Ken and his son of KG Painting for a second time--the first time was last year to paint our garage and downspouts; this time it was to paint the inside of our new Pulte home in a variety of complimentary and accent colors and show off the 5" baseboards and trim throughout! We can't believe how rich each room looks and how the colors all came together. It was a lot of detail work and they did a fantastic job in two days, leaving everything very clean with a beautiful designer look, exactly what we were hoping for. They used high quality paint from the Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore colors we selected from Sample.com. Finally, they are delightful, friendly, and positive to work with and we are lucky to have found them on Angie's List. We highly recommend KG Painting."

"He and one other man painted my bathroom. Missed several spots. One right above the round towel bar and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Another spot by the plug-over sink. I called him to get the remainder of the paint so I could paint. That was a few weeks ago and still have not heard from him. The towel bar over the commode was not hung upright. Kept falling off. I finally got a relative to fix it. He stayed outside in his truck on the phone for the longest time and the other guy had to do most of the work."

"I recently hired Top Tier Painting for an interior paint project, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, their team was incredibly professional, punctual, and easy to work with. They treated my home with care, communicated clearly throughout the process, and delivered exactly what they promised. Their attention to detail was outstanding — from the precise taping and prep work to the clean, smooth finish, everything was executed flawlessly. They took the time to do things the right way, and it truly shows in the final result. The transformation is stunning, and the space looks better than I could have imagined. On top of that, the job was completed quickly and efficiently without sacrificing quality. It’s rare to find a company that works this fast while still maintaining such a high standard of craftsmanship. I highly recommend Top Tier Painting to anyone looking for a reliable, skilled, and professional painting company. I’ll definitely be using them again!"

"We love the whole experience of having our home renovated. Ismael Gonzalez was always on time, very polite, very hard working in the whole process. From texturing my ceilings, painting entire inside, sheet rock, building my pantry, flooring, trim. I couldn’t ask for better down to earth folks to make this possible. Has been a dream come true. I truly refer him in any job you need done. Most definitely will have him back to do more work for my family. Thank You from our hearts and soul. Him and his family are amazing!"

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.
Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.
Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.
You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.
Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.
Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
