"Cliff and Luis are meticulous with their work. They painted over 4,000 square feet of interior for us: trim, shelves, doors and walls. I am very picky and a bit obsessed on everything being clean and neat, and they exceeded my expectations. Not only is their work excellent but also how they work. They are good people and trustworthy! We plan to hire them again when we paint our garage in the spring."

Kind Home painting was very Trustworthy, professional, diligent, hard-working and they do an excellent job in painting. I have some additional work that they have bid on and I’m definitely going to give it to them. New customers who have never utilized Kind Home painting - I strongly recommend that they give this contractor serious consideration."

"Alpha Wolf Painting did a phenomenal job! They painted when we bought a new house and even managed to cover up a full burgundy room. I still need to learn their secret for doing the edges because they turned out better than mine ever have. I would highly recommend this company!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Nate Wright is by far the best painter I have ever worked with, hands down! He is conscientious, reliable, meticulous and clean. He is extremely detailed and goes out of his way to make everything look better than he found it. He knows paints and stains well and makes good recommendations. He is extremely trustworthy. Because he is so reliable, trustworthy and clean, I would have no hesitation having him paint my home, even with furniture in it. He will be so careful with your items, he will keep his stuff organized and leave your home clean and great-looking. He is my go-to painter from now on! He's worth every penny. Hire Nate, you'll be glad you did!"

"Alain explained everything that was needed to make the necessary repairs before painting the exterior of our house. He replaced the bad siding and trim boards. I watched him paint our neighbors house and that convinced me to have him paint our house. He is very conscientious and pays close attention to details also reasonably priced. I would recommend The House Painters for your job too."

"Scott Wald and his crew (Mark and R.J) painted both the exterior and the interior of our home. They were at our home for several days and were a pleasure to have around. They were very reliable and personable, and also reasonably priced. Scott was very flexible and patient with my continued additions to the work we initially requested. He was also very accommodating whenever I pointed out areas which needed another coat or where a spot had been missed, and was quick to remedy whatever I thought needed extra attention. We would definitely hire them again."

"Martin and his crew did an excellent job of painting the outside of our house. He kept us informed of any scheduling changes due to the weather and was easy to reach if we had any questions. He was very knowledgeable concerning all aspects of painting, receptive to suggestions and was very helpful in coordinating color placement. He uses good quality paint and was meticulous with the cleanup after he was done. We were appreciative of their emphasis to detail and the quality of their work. We would highly recommend Picasso Painting to anyone looking to update their home, inside or out!"

FAQs for painting projects in Denver, CO

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
