"The work was good, thorough, looks good on the work, but paints started chipping off on the chimney about a year and a half ago and a little over a year ago in 2019, the blue paint on the French door was bubbling up."

Small jobs welcome

"I recently hired Jeanette to paint my living room, dining room, 2-story foyer and stairway, laundry room, powder room and 2 hallways, which included walls, ceilings, and trim work. I was very pleased with the results, as the work was neat and meticulous. Jeanette and her small crew showed up every morning at 8am and worked continually until mid-afternoon or so. They were quiet and clearly dedicated to their work. From the beginning I was confident that I hired the right company to do the painting, as Jeanette impressed me with her energy, pleasant demeanor, and expert knowledge of professional painting. She did not disappoint! I would not hesitate to hire her again. It was a pleasure to have her and her associates paint my home."

"Steve and his crew were great! We had them paint basically the entire interior of our home: kitchen, living room, powder room, loft, master bedroom, master bath, hallways, and stairs. They did a beautiful job! They were efficient, professional, and friendly. A great value! We will be using them again, and recommending them to family and friends!"

"From our very first interaction with our AWESOME estimator, Rob, the process couldn't have gone more smoothly with Declan and Chris doing the install and on through to dealing with their billing department for payment.  We especially appreciated their product knowledge in helping us select the best shutter for our needs and the best color too.  We did have a rain delay from the original install date, but communications were great and a new date set asap.  All interactions with employees have been professional and courteous, and Declan even accommodated a change we needed to do day of install which saved us money.  We just moved into a new home and are very unhappy with the quality of the painted finishes, so will definitely be calling Nolan Painting when we are ready to get it re-done correctly.  We also had our outside Christmas lights done by their "Shine" division last year.  What a great service since I don't want my husband climbing ladders to the roof and he didn't want to do it anyway.  Nolan Painting does much more than just painting and so far everything I've seen has been top notch!!!

"We are extremely happy with the job Francisco did. He is attentive to details like degreasing our kitchen cabinets before painting, using more than the usual plastic and drop cloths to keep our furniture dust free, and we appreciated the good communication and simply just being on time each morning. Hey the guy paints churches including ours! We will hire him again-no doubt."

"I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was with Leo Robert and Son painting. Tim Robert is professional, smart. Helpful and honest. His color specialist Krista nailed the look I was going for in helping me pick colors. It looks beautiful. His crew prompt, neat, and experts in their craft. They are very reliable and courteous. I would without reservation recommend this company The Cxxxxxxx"

FAQs for painting projects in Lafayette Hill, PA

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
