"Bobby and his crew were on time, got right to work, and did a wonderful job. in hindsight, I wish they had spent more time prepping the window trim by sanding rather than just adding more layers of paint. Several of the windows were painted shut and opening them was almost impossible. But the house looks great, the guys were pleasant and polite, and they cleaned up after themselves. Could' task for more."

Small jobs welcome

"He was very prompt and extremely polite and quiet. I was working form home while he painted and he didn't disturb me at all. I only have two complaints. He used outdoor primer in my kitchen, which smelled very bad and aggravated my asthma. Also, he didn't tape his edges, which led to a few slightly messy spots. All in all, he did a nice job and smoothed out the walls beautifully after all the damage from removing improperly installed wallpaper. I would hire him again, but I'd provide my own primer and ask him to tape crucial areas for neatness."

"Amazing communication and work done by Angela and Dennis. They came and did the cleaning survey the same day we requested a quote, showed up on time and cleaned the apartment for our move out inspection well above standard. Would recommend to anyone."

"I had Inex Home Builders clean and seal my outdoor deck in October. Ron and his crew did an excellent job and was easy to work with and addressed all my concerns. I wanted Ron to also do some exterior painting at that time but the outside temperature was prohibitive. Would hire them again."

"I highly recommend Anthony Beretta and his team at Make Ready NYC. Anthony was very responsive and easy to reach throughout the project. George supervised the work, Cesar expertly refinished the floors, Enrique did a flawless paint job, and Isaac handled the electrical fixtures. They refinished the floors, painted the apartment, and installed fixtures with great attention to detail. The team was professional, punctual, and respectful, keeping the workspace clean and completing everything on time and within budget. They also carry the proper insurance to satisfy NYC co-op and condo board requirements. I’m very happy with their work and would definitely hire Anthony and his team again."

FAQs for painting projects in Warwick, NY

Most homeowners opt for semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to make the baseboards stand out against the walls. If you’d rather keep things subtle, matching the wall sheen with eggshell or satin also works well. When your trim has nicks or dents, reach for a flatter, matte finish—it hides minor imperfections better than a shiny coat.

Stripping old paint from trim costs $1 to $3 per linear foot. Pros use specialized tools and techniques to lift away existing layers without gouging the wood, then prep the surface for a fresh finish. While it adds to your budget, proper removal protects the molding and sets the stage for a smoother, longer-lasting paint job.

Tackling the baseboards first often leads to crisper lines. Painting trim first lets you tape off the boards instead of the walls, so you’re less likely to splatter color where you don’t want it. Any stray marks on the wall get covered when you roll on the final coat, making the whole process faster and tidier.

You can absolutely paint baseboards in place. Leaving them installed avoids the risk of cracking or misaligning the boards when they’re reattached. With thorough cleaning, light sanding, and careful taping, a pro—or an experienced DIYer—can achieve a sharp, factory-smooth finish while saving you the hassle of prying off and reinstalling trim.

Painting almost always beats replacement in cost. Swapping out baseboards runs about $150 in DIY materials or roughly $1,100 with a pro, while repainting costs about $50 in supplies and $1 to $5 per square foot for labor. Unless the boards are warped or severely damaged, a fresh coat delivers the same visual upgrade for a fraction of the price.

Paintable caulk and wood filler are the go-to fixes for nail holes in baseboards. Wood filler sands flush for a glass-smooth surface, while caulk provides a flexible seal that won’t crack as the house settles. Either way, patching those tiny divots before you prime ensures your finished baseboards look seamless.
