"The management and staff at Spiros Painting were 100% professional from beginning to end. They responded immediately to my request for an estimate. They had someone come out to look at the project site the next day. I had called another painting company who told me that they could not provide an estimate unless I assured them that I would sign a contract within 30 days. Spiros made no such stipulation. Spiros began the work about a week after I accepted their proposal. This was partly to accommodate own my schedule; they could have started earlier. The rear wall of the house is difficult to access, but Spiros was able to deal with the situation without bringing in any special equipment. They scraped and patched the wall thoroughly. I have had experiences with painters in the past whose scraping amounted to a light rubdown. Spiros was very conscientious about removing ALL of the peeling paint. The company was patient with me when I changed my mind a couple of times before the work started, about the color I wanted. The work was finished in two days, partly because it was interrupted by rain. The company cleaned up thoroughly after the job was done. I'm very pleased with the work and the workmanship."

The uncertainties: no primer in sight. Asked painter and he said primer only used on new cabinets not repaint jobs. There was some pealing and bare wood exposed on cabinet doors. Enamel paint can says to prime bare wood before top coat. Job bid for 2 days and finished in 6 hours because they only allowed 30 minutes drying between enamel coats. Paint can says dry 4 hours between coats. Maybe will be OK because it was a warm dry day. Won't really know if job will stand up for a couple years. Based on 3 workers for 6 hours, allowing $100 for paint that works out to over $90 an hour. Even with overhead that seems excessive and I feel like I am overpaying for what actually occurred as opposed to what was bid."
