I provide carpentry solutions and handyman services for central and south Alabama, South Georgia and North Florida. My education background is in Finance from Auburn University, but my passion has always been woodwork. My start in carpentry/ construction began in general woodwork for custom home builders on Lake Martin in central Alabama. Due to the good fortune of connecting with trusting clientele, I have expanded my list of providable services over the years since this time! It is my opinion that my core competency and overall value offering eliminates the two largest setbacks that consistently prove to be problematic in this line of work… Communication and Price. I provide a solution to what seems to be the newfound industry standard of “subcontractors.” Cut out all the miscommunication that comes from discussing your project with one person, just to have another person complete it. If the person you are paying is not the person completing the work, you are PAYING TOO MUCH!

Responds promptly to text and kept me informed through the entire process. The crew working on my roof were very polite, hard working and you’d never know they had been to my house. "Over all it was an ok experience. They got there on time , did a good job with the carpets, and cleaned up after they were done. The carpet cleaners were very ,friendly, polite. However, they came in and right off the get go, tracked mud all over a brand new foyer runner. They cleaned it for us but the whole idea behind the appointment was to clean carpets and not to create more work. They didn't even offer a discount when we even paid extra for a deeper clean on our rugs. After they finished the job they packed everything up and never asked to walk around to see if we were happy with the work. They just said that they were done and they were off to the next job. I would not use them nor recommend them to friends and family."

"From the first contact to the last, Backyard Custom was professional. The whole experience was easy. Due to the recent snow storm, we had to delay the job for three days. I was involved in the construction industry my entire career and I can testify that this was one of the most efficient and well constructed projects I have seen. The showed up at 8am and left just under 8 hours later. Job done!! Quality!!! I can imagine the surprise of many of my neighbors who drove by my house in the morning with an empty spot in my back yard to find driving home a large 16' X 24" Shed. Dustin is very good at what he does."

"It was messy but that is to be expected when working on sheet-rock and carpentry. The work itself turned out very well. The job was to enlarge two closets, repair wood and sheet-rock, install two large doors with mirrors, casing, and paint. Good carpentry work; we had a couple of problems but he immediately asked what we thought and did not try to cover or hide the imperfection. Mr Tolbert was willing to redo a part that was not perfect - his suggestion. That, perhaps, is the most important quality: if something is not right, he will tell you, discuss ways to improve, and redo if necessary. He brought a helper to paint two rooms and the helper too was very professional. I would definitely hire him again to do carpentry, painting and other handyman work. My only 4 star instead of 5 was because it took him a while to get back to me with an estimate and a possible start day - that could be because he is overwhelmed with work. We had expected 4 days of work: 1 per closet, and 1 per painted room. He finished in 3 days (once he got a helper it went faster)."

"They came in to inspect our firplace and chimney the summer of 2012, and they were honest with us.  The person who came out let us know that our system was in great condition, and did not need any service. He could of easliy over sold us on unnecessary products and services. We appreciate his honesty.
