This home is both our 2nd and 4th renovation with NJSA, in 2016 and 2021.
In the 2016 renovation, we removed the interior walls in the living spaces (incl. finishing the former garage) to open up the home, and replaced most windows and exterior walls with glass walls as integrated sunrooms. We also built a second story with beautiful contemporary lines and volumes, more integrated sunrooms, two exceptional gable windows and a skylight. All these spaces flow around a gorgeous circular staircase, which is so efficient with space despite being 6ft wide. Every visitor told us how luminous and spacious, great and unique the home already was thanks to these integrated sunrooms.
The 2021 renovation consisted of a 58 sq ft addition behind the dining room and cutting the roof of the existing kitchen bump out to achieve one 20x5 conservatory: words cannot describe how such a small renovation in size resulted in such a spectacular transformation of the home!
Design-wise, as for many homes, our connection to the backyard was minimal and all living spaces were turned to the street. Now French doors in the dining and kitchen areas open to the backyard, and it is remarkable how the glass wall overlooking our very narrow English garden still achieves these picture perfect vistas and the feeling of living outside from anywhere in the whole living space.
The conservatory is on the North side of the home and turned our darkest and coldest side into the brightest and most comfortable one. From sunrise through the French door then trapezoid window, to light pouring in all day long through the tempered glass roof, to glorious sunsets and games of shadow, to stargazing in the magical long clear nights of summerâ ¦ the light and sky views from every space feel magical. We also experienced awe inspiring lightning storms, the soothing sound of rain, and even through tropical storm Ida with the most whipping rain ever, we had zero leaks or even humidity.
This home is aptly named Serenity@46, hosting turnkey temporary housing and short term rentals, and all reviews in the past years already described this home as having the most natural light, being the most specialâ ¦ our guests ever stayed in, and yet so much light pours in through the conservatory that the whole home seems turned towards it now.
NJSAâ s process is so remarkable too! About 2 weeks before the delivery date of the custom built room, they pour the foundation, next they cut/clear the roof and siding as needed, then puzzle the modular pieces together and connect them into the existing home, and only after all is complete do they seal the interior in plastic sheeting and remove the former exterior wall: our home was never open to the elements or left unprotected. We also never lost the use of the house and all was left clean every day. No traditional framing can be done in so little time and without disturbance. Building inspections are easy too, since this system is pre-built and as depicted on approved plans, but also because inspectors know and trust NJSA.
The NJSA teamwork is exceptional: it is obvious they are highly skilled and have been working together for many years. Ryann is also excellent in keeping us apprised regularly. This staff is very efficient and stays on the job, without delays or subcontracting as with most traditional construction.
We had such high hopes for this conservatory - and NJSA went above and beyond in their work ethics and service to ensure we were perfectly happy - yet our daily experience is so amazing it surpasses all expectations.
We hope you too can install the most wonderful conservatory, but even the smallest addition or replacing (part of) a roof and exterior wall facing the simplest view can completely transform your home! Enjoy the before/after pictures to help envision how your current home could be transformed as well!
