"The process started with a VKB designer, Sean, coming to our house to look at our bathroom and provide an estimate. A few days later, we went to the VKB showroom and selected our tile with Sean's advice. Five days after that, the remodeling workers began the project. Our project lead was named Jason. VKB left a lock box on the door to our house with our key in it so that we did not have to be at home while they were working. From start to finish the project took 3 weeks. Each day when the workers arrived, they would lay down canvas on the floor from the entrance of the house all the way upstairs to the master bathroom to keep the carpet clean. They would also hang plastic covers over the furniture in our bedroom to protect them from dust. Our garage was used to store a lot of materials, equipment, and trash through the process, so we could not park our car in there. Fortunately, we had easy access to street parking. Each day, Jason would call us in the evening to make sure everything was going okay. He was always very accessible and attentive to our concerns. At the end of the project, our tile selections turned out looking great and all of the finishing details were well done. The custom glass enclosure also looked great and fit perfectly. A big thanks to Sean and Jason!"

"Though we didn't choose the lowest bidder, we're confident we chose the best contractor for our project. This was the largest project we'd undertaken as homeowners, so communication was extremely important to us. Though my initial phone contact with the main office did not inspire me with confidence (brusque and unfriendly person on other end) Steve Schultze called me within the week. From that point on, we have had a very positive impression of the company. Steve made excellent suggestions about our design, as well as lighting suggestions, many of which which we adopted, and we came up with a plan that fit our budget (OK, maxed our budget by adding a patio and additional lighting, but it was worth it). Steve also recommended a reasonably priced French door that's worked out very well. The job began on 9/25/17, exactly when Steve had predicted it would. Jaime and his crew arrived to demolish and haul away the old deck and storage shed. Construction began the next day. Jaime is a meticulous carpenter who clearly has a strong work ethic. He and his crew kept the work site reasonably tidy. Steve regularly visited the site, and remained in contact via phone, email and text. After a couple weeks, we expressed a desire to have all the trades together to brainstorm how the stairs would meet the patio etcetera. Steve arranged to have the Lenny (mason), Jaime (carpenter), and the electrician meet us at the site the very next day. Everyone made excellent suggestions that improved the beauty and functionality of our project. Due to a few perturbations (rain, illness, sub-contractor schedule, short supply delivery) the job was substantially completed and passed inspection 11/15/17, a couple weeks later than predicted (which was a non-issue for us). There were a couple punch list items that were not completed until 12/3/17 (due to rain, illness, part on order) but these did not prevent us from enjoying our beautiful new spaces. Overall, we received a well constructed and beautiful deck, screened porch (as well as a lovely new patio, reviewed separately), completed within a reasonable time frame, for a fair price. We would happily work with this contractor, Steve, Jaime and Lenny again. ."

"I was very happy with the work performed by Leal Remodeling, Painting and Handyman Services. Ferney Leal and his crew did extensive prep work: power washing, sanding, caulking, priming, and replaced damaged wood. Finally, they painted all of the wood trim on the exterior of our home and painted the porch. Our house was looking a little worn down, now it looks first rate."

FAQs for shed and enclosure service projects in Spencerville, MD

A treehouse stresses the tree, but proper design keeps that impact manageable. Start with a healthy species, use tree-attachment bolts instead of lag screws, and allow room for future growth. A qualified treehouse builder or arborist can assess load capacity, ensure safe fastening, and monitor the tree’s health after construction.

The time it takes to build a treehouse depends on its size and complexity, and whether you choose a prefab kit or a custom design. A straightforward child's prefab treehouse can be assembled in as little as two days to a week. More complex designs can take two to six weeks. Adding features like plumbing and electricity can add several days to the project timeline. Building a fully livable treehouse can take anywhere from several months to a year.

The best trees for constructing a treehouse are strong and healthy with a minimum diameter of 12 inches. Ideal choices include maple, oak, hemlock, and fir trees. If suitable trees aren't available, you can install additional support posts to reinforce the structure. Consulting with an arborist or local treehouse builder ensures your site is evaluated correctly and your treehouse is securely anchored.

A well-constructed treehouse can last anywhere from 10 to 25 years or more. The lifespan depends on the quality of the materials used and the extent to which they are maintained. Applying weatherproof treatments to the wood can help extend its lifespan. Keep in mind that treehouses in areas with harsh weather conditions may wear faster than those in milder climates.

Building a treehouse for year‑round living is entirely possible when you address both the technical challenges and the lifestyle benefits head‑on. This project requires a secure design that incorporates superior insulation, integrated plumbing, and robust electrical systems, while also creating a sustainable, minimalist, and eco-friendly retreat. To ensure comfort and safety, invest in enhanced structural supports and adhere to strict code-compliance measures. Professional consultation is essential to transform your treehouse into a secure, full-time living space that incorporates off-the-grid and environmentally conscious design.

Plumbing installation in a treehouse is challenging because it requires unique, engineered solutions for an off‑ground structure. This project requires custom-designed water distribution systems, reinforced connections, and specialized adjustments that exceed the standard requirements for home plumbing. In addition, implementing innovative solutions such as composting toilets, rainwater collection systems, and graywater sinks ensures safe operation, efficient drainage, and sustainable water usage. These measures, when combined with rigorous adherence to building codes, guarantee that your treehouse’s plumbing system operates securely and efficiently.
