"The process started with a VKB designer, Sean, coming to our house to look at our bathroom and provide an estimate. A few days later, we went to the VKB showroom and selected our tile with Sean's advice. Five days after that, the remodeling workers began the project. Our project lead was named Jason. VKB left a lock box on the door to our house with our key in it so that we did not have to be at home while they were working. From start to finish the project took 3 weeks. Each day when the workers arrived, they would lay down canvas on the floor from the entrance of the house all the way upstairs to the master bathroom to keep the carpet clean. They would also hang plastic covers over the furniture in our bedroom to protect them from dust. Our garage was used to store a lot of materials, equipment, and trash through the process, so we could not park our car in there. Fortunately, we had easy access to street parking. Each day, Jason would call us in the evening to make sure everything was going okay. He was always very accessible and attentive to our concerns. At the end of the project, our tile selections turned out looking great and all of the finishing details were well done. The custom glass enclosure also looked great and fit perfectly. "Bob, from Two by Four Construction, was one of four companies from whom we sought estimates. Bob's estimate for the work was significantly less than the other three companies, all of whom were dedicated flooring companies.  Additionally, 2 x 4 was the only company of the four who came prepared to estimate the cost of converting the stairs from carpet to hardwood, even though I was specific in my estimate request for that work. All of the others wanted to have a contractor come out separately, and they only raised that at the time of their visit to estimate the work.  So, Bob got extra points for being prepared.  Bob also provided us with ideas on selecting the riser finish. We weren't sure whether we wanted stain or white risers. Bob discussed with us and explained exactly  how they would accomplish the white risers. 
The work was accomplished over 4 days.  On day one, the guys arrived and replaced all of the upstairs carpet with hardwood, and removed all of the carpet, handrail and plywood from the stairs, taking it down to the 2 x 6's. On Day 2, The carpenters completed the stairs, and the refinish crew sanded and stained  and poly'ed the living room floor, which was away from the stairs.  On day 3, they returned and applied the finish coat of polyurethane. After inspection, we decided that the living room stain was a slightly lighter shade than the surrounding floors, so we asked Bob to darken the floor. He had the crew out here today and they restained it with a darker stain to better match the other floors. 
Two By Four Construction did an outstanding job on all three parts of the job, including the upstairs replacing carpet with hardwood, converting the stairs from carpet to hardwood with white risers, and refinishing the living room floor.
 We are very pleased with the quality of the work, the teams were very responsive, prompt, courteous, and left the house in immaculate condition.

"The crew arrived on time and completed the job on schedule.
The quality was excellent and the fence was better built and more stable than my old fence.
The gate they built was more stable but had a bottom frame that would make it difficult for
me to roll equipment in and out of my yard.
The owner understood my concern and had a crew come back the next day and re-built
the gate.  The owner was great to work with and did excellent work.
