"I live in Stafford, Virginia and Brian came down and did the work for me when he normally works in Maryland only. I’m so thankful and love you. He came to do what he did and went above and beyond. I bought my house 10 years ago almost 11 now and he has helped me enjoy it so much. There was never a top level porch and Brian created our sanctuary. My husband was super impressed with his work. Thank you for helping us enjoy our home more!"

"Our place had good bones but didn’t work for our daily life. Every room felt cut off from the next. Ben and Teddy from Top Remodeling sat with us and came up with a better layout without changing the size of the home. They moved the hallway, opened the living area, and added a custom touch in almost every room. They rebuilt the inside from the studs and used solid-core doors and clean finishes. We went with soft white walls, bronze handles, and natural maple cabinets. Now, it all feels open and calm. Every room has a purpose."

"I wish I could give ten stars. Came home from Christmas to a literal waterfall in my house. Steven and his crew were absolutely the best team I could have asked for. Understanding, communicative, empathetic and on top of all that, the quality of their work is EXCELLENT. My entire first floor was taken down to studs and rebuilt and it's better than it was before the disaster."

"DMV did a complete remodel of our master bathroom and we are very happy with the finished product. The design process was a pleasant one, with the DMV team providing very helpful input that allowed a true team approach between us and their team. The process went smoothly because of the large variety of options that we could see and compare in their showroom and their expertise with 3-D image feedback. They were very transparent about pricing and timing and both cost and time projections were met very closely. Their crew was very skilled and extremely careful to keep everything clean. They did an excellent job with every aspect of the work inspected and cleared by team managers. Finally they were a pleasure to work with from a communication and results perspective. I have already been recommending them to people."

Customers say: Quick response

"I don’t think I can possibly say enough about the professionalism of Ryan and his crew. From the overall design, the electricians, the plumbers, and the painters. Everyone was delightful. I have never had this type of experience with a construction project before. My wife and I are thoroughly delighted with the outcome. it has been over a month now and we still get excited every time we just walk into the bathroom. The lighting is spectacular. Everything came out even better than we imagined. I highly recommend Ryan and his crew for any construction project that you may be investigating. Ryan and everyone in his crew is very personable and delightful to have it around. Their work goes beyond just professional. They work together as a well oiled machine that delivers a masterpiece. I cannot think these folks enough."

"I spoke with Marisol (who seemed to be in charge) on Nov 8th. We started a text chain about what I wanted done. All direction of what I needed is in the text chain that was written over the next two weeks. I wanted drywall repair in the dinning room, living room and hallway because I removed crown molding. We spoke through text that we could finally meet at 5:30 pm on the Thursday the 13th. They came over at about that time. We spoke about what I needed done then added the kitchen and the entryway to the task. On Monday the 17th she sent me an amended price of 2,200 (in a text). I asked for an invoice and she sent one. I wrote to remove $200 from the cost to not paint the doors. $2,000 was agreed to. We agreed that I would pay with a credit card. I wrote in a text (after we spoke face to face) that white eggshell would be used in the dining room, living room, hallway and entryway. Then use white satin in the kitchen. I then I expressed the same in a text. They agreed to provide the paint and materials. Flat paint was never talked about being used. We spoke a few more times about when they could start. We agreed on Wednesday the 19th. I told them I would remove items from the walls (pictures, socket cover plates and so on). They showed promptly at 8am then began work. I was expecting at least 2 days of work. The only took 1 day. They finished at about 5pm. They had to clean my floor because they did not used a drop cloth during the drywall repair but did during the painting. I inspected for cleanliness and quality. Everything seemed like it could have been done better. It was getting late. I paid the balance when they were done. They left. All the paint wasn't dry. I let the paint dry overnight. The next day as I was starting to reinstall the outlet covers and things and was angered when I noticed that all the outlets and switches were painted over and shorted three dining room wall outlets. I sent Marisol pics and told of the outlets with no power(I did reset the circuit breaker). She left a voicemail saying that she would take care of the problem. Nothing yet. Then I tried to wipe a smudge off the wall and it would not clean. I investigated the type of paint they used and it was flat paint, used in the dining room, living room, hallway and entryway where eggshell was supposed to be used. Eggshell was used in the kitchen where satin was supposed to be used. Fat paint was not discussed to be used. I sent another text stating flat paint was used instead of what was agreed upon. Nothing yet."

FAQs for kitchen remodel projects in Accokeek, MD

Your galley kitchen needs adequate clearance around any island installation to maintain functionality. Most galley kitchens lack sufficient width for traditional islands, as these layouts prioritize efficiency in smaller spaces.

If your kitchen has an unusual width, consult with a kitchen designer who can evaluate your specific dimensions and recommend appropriate solutions. For narrower spaces, consider alternatives like rolling carts or narrow work tables that provide additional surface area without permanently restricting movement.

Kitchen remodels require six to 10 weeks for completion, though timelines vary based on project scope and material availability. Simple updates like cabinet refinishing and countertop replacement might finish within a few weeks, while comprehensive renovations involving structural changes often extend beyond two months.

Planning stages add approximately four weeks before construction begins. Maintaining clear communication with your contractor and ordering materials early helps prevent unnecessary delays.

Common errors include insufficient clearance between opposing countertops, inadequate lighting that creates shadowy work areas, and poor storage planning that leaves countertops cluttered. Some homeowners select oversized appliances that overwhelm the space or invest in expensive features that don't address fundamental workflow issues.

Careful planning, accurate measurements, and consultation with experienced professionals help avoid these pitfalls and ensure your renovation successfully addresses your kitchen's specific challenges.

Whether expansion makes sense depends on your home's layout, your budget, and your long-term plans. Combining a galley kitchen with neighboring spaces creates more open, flexible layouts that many buyers prefer. However, removing walls involves substantial costs, particularly if they contain plumbing, electrical systems, or structural elements.

Sometimes, optimizing your existing galley layout through better storage solutions and lighting proves more cost-effective than expansion. Consult with a contractor to evaluate specific costs for your situation.

Effective galley kitchen lighting combines multiple sources to eliminate shadows and create visual spaciousness. Overhead fixtures provide general illumination, while under-cabinet lighting illuminates work surfaces directly. Consider recessed ceiling fixtures that don't protrude into limited headspace.

Lighting with dimming capabilities allows adjustment for different activities. Reflective surfaces like glass tile backsplashes or glossy cabinet finishes help bounce light throughout the space, reducing the corridor effect common in galley layouts.
