"Absolutely fantastic. When I originally called, I was told that they wouldn't be able to come out for a few weeks due to their heavy workload. I described the job and asked that they call me if anything became available sooner as I had someone coming to install the heating stove in a week. Soon after, I received a call that they would be able to help and could come out the next day. I wasn't able to be there for the work, so I left the key and a note with instructions. They completed the job perfectly and I would never have known that they were there except for the new gas connection exactly where I had asked them to place it. Several days later someone from Martel came by in person to be sure that I was happy with the work and to answer any questions that may have come up. Based on this experience, they are now my go-to for all of my plumbing needs. <br />"

"After calling at least a dozen plumbers and HVAC contractors I decided to have Bruce install my new pellet boiler. Throughout the process Bruce was very responsive, concerned with what we needed and wanted from the install and otherwise professional. He and Nick did a great job and I'd highly reccomend them to anyone that may be looking for a quality plumber with reasonable rates. The distributor who sold me the pellet boiler came onsite after the install to commission the new boiler and he commented that Bruce and quot;really knows what he's doing.and quot; An all around good experience with Bruce. <br />"

"When my hot water heater died I called Ideal Temp and spoke to Paul about my situation. He came out, took a look at the problem and gave me a quote for replacing and installing the water heater. He explained the different options involved, what to expect and approximately how long it would take. He came first thing in the morning the following day and promptly installed the new unit. Couldn't be more pleased with his service and would happily recommend him to others. <br />"

"Service provider / driver (I forget his first name - sorry) was very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the pumping of the septic tank and the reason for my drains backing up.  I will definitely use Sebastian Septic again.  He also had a squeaky clean truck AND enough hose that he didn't have to back up over my lawn and leave behind divots from his truck.  Great experience."

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"Walter did a great job.  He came to our house as scheduled. He even called to say he was going to be a little late as another job was taking him longer than planned.  He came on a Saturday at no extra charge on his rates.   <br /> I was aware of what was causing the leak and what it would take to repair the leak by checking it on a self repair site on the internet.  I felt the job was a little above my level of expertise so we called a plumber.  <br /> Walter did only the work that was required and his price was astonishingly fair.  He is a licensed master plumber (we checked) who is self employed.  He did a great job and I would not hesitate to use him again or recommend his services. <br />"

"He and his crew took out the old steel tub and put in a new tub and <br /> surround. The best part was that he found a way to put a bigger unit in <br /> there. In a space that only fit a 60 x 30, he figured out how he could <br /> put in the 60x32 unit that we so wanted. He made it happen and it turned out great! <br /> He also put in 2 shelves above the toilet, which really give us a lot of new space. <br /> We have worked with KDogg before and will work with him again. <br /> He does great work and has come in with the best prices too. <br /> <br />"

"After we obtained several other estimates, Simmons Plumbing came in much lower and included more. The work was done in two full days. Sometimes a large team was at work, but most of the time it was two amenable young guys. They were polite, respectful, and easy to deal with. The old system was extracted without incident through bulkhead doors, and the new system carefully installed. The parts and functions were explained to us in detail. They left the area cleaner than they found it. Amazing team!"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Acton, ME

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
