"We were hesitant to use Empire but so glad we did! We had a rep from the carpet guys come out first and he wasn't very knowledgeable and had one carpet to choose from with what we wanted. The next day Empire came out, our sales lady was much more knowledgeable, very kind, and had many options in what we wanted! They have a promotion online that says buy one room, get all other rooms for $50 but of course that's only for crap carpet no one wants or buys so that was frustrating, but she worked with us on pricing and the carpet was installed 6 days later! (It could have been sooner but we chose to wait). We were a little concerned the day before installation because the email said they would come anytime between 8am-6pm, which worried us that they'd come late and not be finished that day. But two men arrived at 820am and were done, cleaned up and moved all of our furniture back by 1130am! It was a very smooth process and I'd recommend them to friends & family."

"Carpet on Wheels has been amazing to work with! They offer a wide variety of quality products, (not just carpet, like their name suggests). Cheri was extremely helpful when we were picking out our tile and wood flooring; she was knowledgeable and offered insight when I was questioning design aspects of our space with the flooring, without being pushy. Everything was painless, from picking our flooring, having our space measured, all the way through installation. Everybody we encountered was friendly and professional, (they remember my name every time we walk into their storefront!). We've still got a few more projects that we'll definitely be back for!"

"We were fortunate to sell our previous home in a short period of time and had to be out by Feb. 24th. Scott Morley promised to have the flooring and painting done by then with only four weeks' notice. The work was completed on time and it is stunning. The attention to detail is outstanding and the results exceeded our expectations.  <br /> The window treatments were custom ordered and not available until after we moved in. As they arrived from the manufacturer, Scot arranged to have them stalled immediately and did not wait until the order was completely delivered before starting the work. This courtesy was very much appreciated. <br /> Other than the initial visit to measure everything, all communication was by phone and email due to the distance from our previous home and this worked very well. My questions were always promptly answered and I got progress reports regularly. <br /> The young man who did the floor replacement and window treatment installations was very professional, friendly and courteous. I was very impressed with his workmanship. He came when he said he would arrive and was careful of our new flooring and furnishings as he went about his work. <br /> I highly recommend Morley's Flooring. <br />"

"Dennis is very knowledgeable and informative in his craft, which is a refreshing contrast to the apathetic costumer direction provided in other carpeting stores. When it came time to pick flooring, Dennis was able to take me to his warehouse so that I can pick out a very satisfactory and popular flooring which he kept in stock. What is equally if not more impressive is that the turnaround for delivery and installation was executed within days as opposed to the weeks offered by Abbey's competitors. Needless to say I was very impress by their speed and craftsmanship as well as the care provided in their service."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Adrian, MI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
