"Robbie was very professional. He came out and measured the basement and gave me a fair price for carpet and padding as well as leveling the low ...basement floor where there were several areas. His quote was about $500 less than other estimates. His crew (Steven and Dave) came out a week later, leveled the floor, laid the carpet with no issues. Both were very friendly and professional. Robbie called me later in the evening to ask how things went. I told him how pleased I was with the carpet and will have Forever Carpet come out to give me an estimate on another project later this summer. I recommend Forever Carpet for new carpet installation. "Short Review: Juan completed a small job for me: removal of a 140sqf plaster ceiling, installation of a new drywall ceiling, installation of ...recessed lighting, finish work and painting. Overall, Juan is a really good, honest guy and he did great work with the drywall and electrical. Improvements in communication and cleaning of the worksite would make him a 5/5. I would hire again if he treated the space a bit more delicately to prevent damage and cleaned up significantly better at the end. Full Review: Pros: Juan has attention to detail to his work; the end result was very professional. He underestimated how much time the project would take by a couple days, however he worked over the weekend during his family time to make sure the project was done on my timeline. Juan arrived pretty early on most days (e.g. 7:00a.m.) and put in full days to get the project done. Cons: I was out of town for 3/6 days of the project. There were a couple issues with the installation that I would have appreciated a phone call to discuss before moving forward. Although he did arrive early, he was sometimes off +/- a couple hours for his arrival. This is only an issue if you are planning to meet him, which wasnâ t absolutely necessary on my part. Cleaning was a bit of an issue. Juan did wipe things down as he went, but the level of cleanliness at the end was not great in my opinion. He put plastic over the door leading to other rooms, however a significant amount of dust made it throughout the other rooms. I had to clean this a couple times. In the outdoor space it appears he poured a couple buckets of spackle and water in the yard, areas that had just been seeded with grass and I had asked him to be careful of. To be fair, my yard is small, but still the mess could have been avoided. The site was roughly wiped down and the floor was mopped, however I still had significant piles of dust on most horizontal surfaces, walls were scuffed up and had multiple new hand prints, and the wood floor had multiple scratches and depressions from moving the fridge around. The fridge is heavy, but I have moved it in and out of that room a couple times with no damage to the floor so I know it can be done. A little more grace would have been appreciated so I didnâ t have to repair a damaged floor. He purchased some stain markers for me to help repair, but this wonâ t remove the long dented scratches. Overall, I had to spend 3 hours cleaning up excess dust, wiping down walls, and repainting (rolling out) the walls to cover up new marks (and old marks) on the walls. I think most of this could have been avoided. "

"It's been about a month since we did business with Total Flooring Solutions. We contacted them to install carpet in the basement of our new ...home, and Eric was stopping by our house to provide an estimate not long after we first talked. That estimate, as promised, was the exact amount we ended up paying (which was a great price!) when all was said and done. A two person team came to install the carpeting and they did a fantastic job. I was really impressed and satisfied with the service and our purchase. Needless to say, if you're in the market for new carpet, I would highly recommend this business! "

"I had prepared for new carpet in two rooms , two landings, and some stairs. On the assigned day, I was in distress because another company did ...not show up to do the work. I called Royal and the salesman came and measured the area for carpet and let me pick from the carpet samples he had on the same day! The next day his crew installed the carpet. Its soft, beautiful, and really ads to the look of the rooms. "

Ideas & Inspiration from Baltimore Flooring & Carpet Contractors

Baltimore Carpet Installation

When it comes to carpet installation in Baltimore, you're going to be faced with the decision of whether you want to do it on your own, or whether to set out in search of a qualified carpet installation contractor to perform your installation for you. Carpet installation can be done by a DIYer, though for reasons we'll get into in a moment, if you don't have any prior experience with carpet installation, your best bet is probably going to be hiring a professional.

Why Proper Installation is so Important The carpet problem that keeps more Crabtown carpet repair companies in business than any other is loose carpeting, which manifests itself in symptoms like rippling, buckling, and bulging. If you doubt that fact, take a look at the carpet repair section in the Baltimore yellow pages and see how many entries you find that specialize in carpet re-stretching and re-fastening, the industry terms for pulling your carpets tight again and reattaching them properly to the tackless strips. What's to blame for the majority of those loose carpets in Charm City? You guessed it: poor installation.

Extends the Life of Your Carpeting While the day-to-day life of a carpet is probably the last thing on your mind, it's worth considering the fact that your average carpeting encounters some pretty taxing situations over the course of a lifetime. Multiple carpet cleanings using powerful steam vacuum cleaners, homeowners dragging heavy furniture from one spot to another, and the accumulative stress caused by years of foot traffic, all stretch your carpeting to the limit. A carpet that's been properly installed, using the right techniques and tools, like knee kickers and power carpet stretchers, can take all those beatings and more for a minimum of 10 to 15 years without showing any adverse effects. A carpet that has been installed poorly, however, will give under the pressure in a fraction of that time.

Basic Installation The right way to install carpeting in Baltimore is actually a pretty straightforward process. First, the old carpet needs to be removed, and the area will have to be thoroughly cleaned—you'll be amazed at how much dirt and dust has escaped your regular vacuuming. After that, tackless strips need to be installed around the edges of the room, followed by the installation of your carpet padding. The carpet is then rolled out, cut 4"-6" longer than necessary at each wall, after which the tough part begins. Starting at one end of the room, the carpet needs to be trimmed straight and to the right length, attached to the tackless strips using a tool called a knee kicker, and then a power carpet stretcher is used to pull the carpet tight to the opposite wall, where it's attached and trimmed on the other end. In poor carpet installations, this is where things go wrong. If the carpet isn't attached and stretched properly, it won't be too long before signs of a sub par carpet installation in Baltimore begin to surface.

Costs With all that being said, if you're not completely confident in your abilities to install your carpet correctly, it's a good idea to hire a pro. Carpet installation in Baltimore averages about $1,900 per job, based on data that HomeAdvisor collects from the thousands of contractor referrals we provide Baltimoreans every year. Like any home improvement, that number can vary quite a bit. The cheapest job we have on record ran just $700, while the most expensive in our books topped out at $7,000. Why the huge range in prices? There are a lot of factors that influence how much carpet installation might cost. For example, that $700 price tag was likely for a single family or bedroom, while the $7,000 job was for high-end carpeting installed in a (very!) large home. Purchasing your carpet separately, shopping around for a competitive bid from a carpet installation contractor, and not being talked into purchasing carpet that's more than you need, are all ways to cut your costs if you're looking for ways to save a few pennies along the way.

When it comes to Baltimore carpet installation, it pays to get it done right. If you've got the know-how, the tools, and the time, by all means tackle this one yourself. If not, hiring a professional carpet installer to do the job will guarantee new carpeting that's going to last, problem free, for years to come.
