"We have had Dalton install carpet & hardwood flooring in our last 3 homes and each time have been very pleased with the service we have received from the Sam the owner to the sales associates and the installers. We had a problem with our kitchen floor, called Sam the owner & he was out the next day inspecting the floor, while in our home he called the manufacture & within a week installed a brand new floor. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE."

"I did my homework before hiring these guys and I am so glad I did. My friend and I were both having our homes done at the same time and he hired another local flooring company and was given the run around and excuse after excuse for every little thing that came up. The Carpet Guys came out to MY house with the carpeting selections, gave me a price that was right in line with most of the other quotes I've been given, but the service was incredible. The sales person was very helpful and personable. Not pushy at all. The managers that scheduled my installation were professional and pleasant to deal with on the phone, and my installers that put in my new carpeting did a fantastic job and cleaned up after themselves. My friend across the street went through a rough experience compared to what I went through and I am so happy I chose The Carpet Guys. "

"Beyond the quality of the work, what set Jacob and Extreme Exteriors apart for me was his excellent level of communication. He was fast to update me, called and did not text, he was willing to add everything I requested to the contract, and he was open to the way that I wanted to approach the job. He constantly said Whatever you want, I am here to serve you, and that is really the impression I am left with now that all is said and done. Here is our story: I had settled on a different roofing contractor before Jacob was able to give a bid, but Jacob and I agreed to keep in touch in case something did not work out. After repeated failures in communication with the other contractor, I call Jacob to see if he would still be interested. He accepted my roof job in Pontiac despite walking into it mid-job. They were already materials on the roof, and I had already set my ways on more or less how it was going to be done. I have been in the remodel industry full time for four years, and let me tell you that It is not ideal to walk into however someone else was going to do a job, and most contractors would simply walk away or charge a price so high it would not make sense. But not Jacob. He offered a fair price, (especially considering the challenges of the job) and on top of that he provided a two years of same as cash financing from synchrony bank pending my credit approval, which I got. This is something only one other contractor has ever been able to provide me, and their bid price was not as kind as Jacob's. It was taking Jacob's crew led by a Jason longer than expected to get to my job, due to unforeseen circumstances and rainy May weather (the status quo in construction), and I was worried since I knew Jacob was expecting a baby and that obviously takes priority, but he pulled through in the clutch, offering me the option of another of his roofing crews that could do it sooner, but left it up to me. I accepted, and this other crew, 8-9 people led by Hector, did a fantastic job. They got it all done in one day, did a nice job cleaning up, and they even stacked the leftover materials in the front yard for me to return or use on the next job, just as we agreed. Jacob managed his time well between being present for his family, pulling the permit in a timely fashion, communicating regularly with me, and coming out on the day of the roof installation to make sure I was happy and that everyone was on the same page. Hector never complained about my special requests or questions to make sure it was being done the way I wanted. I am not the average homeowner since I do a lot of remodel work myself, and I am a bit of a perfectionist. I want things done a certain way and it is unlikely something slips by me unnoticed. I want an above and beyond quality job, with transparent communication, and a fair price. Jacob offered me all of these things and I would work with him again in a heartbeat. I see Jacob and his business going far since he offers what most lack in the contractor world, thorough and transparent communication. Thank you, Jacob, Hector, and Extreme Exteriors. "

Ideas & Inspiration from Detroit Flooring & Carpet Contractors

Detroit Carpet Installation

The softer side of Detroit homes begins with plush comfort of residential carpeting. Very few homes have only one type of flooring. Indeed, carpet makes for poor flooring in a place like the kitchen, and can be less-than-ideal for high-moisture areas such as bathrooms and basements. At the same time, between bedrooms, living rooms, and other areas of the home where relaxation and comfort are put at a premium, it's unusual for a Detroit home not to have some carpeted flooring.

Choosing Carpet Fibers
The biggest decision you'll probably make for your carpet is what type of fiber will work best for your home, your lifestyle, and your budget. Often, there is no clear-cut best answer, but here are some things to consider and discuss with your Detroit carpet contractor.

Wool Fiber: Hands down the best carpet fiber on the market. It has a deep, rich color with unmatched durability and long-lasting beauty. The only downside is that wool fiber is also substantially more expensive.

Nylon Fiber: By far the most popular carpet fiber, this synthetic fiber is the one that most closely resembles wool without the high-end cost.

Other Synthetics: Some synthetics are cheaper even than nylon. Olefin, polyester, and acrylic are the most common alternatives. All carpet fibers can fade from prolonged exposure to sunlight, including wool, but different synthetics perform differently to other carpet enemies such as moisture, stains and burns, static, and abrasion.

Carpet Padding
The other major component of your carpeting is the padding. Strictly speaking, you don't absolutely need padding, but without it your fibers will pull apart and deteriorate in relatively short order. Thick pads will give your carpet that plush, soft feel, but padding density is the important measurement for durability. Thick pads with low density will quickly suffer from compression that will eventually destroy the padding. The pad you choose is usually a function of the area of the home where the carpet is to be installed as well as the expected foot traffic and weight-bearing needs.

Cost of Carpet Installation
It's difficult to say how much your carpet installation will cost. The national average for a carpet installation project is about $1,600. Our data for carpet installation in Detroit shows our contractors can handle the biggest or the smallest projects you can imagine. Recently, we've processed installations for small, simple carpet that cost as little as $350, and multiple room, higher-end carpet that came to a grand total of $4,500. By looking at the size of your project, and the quality of the carpet you need, you begin to see where your project may fall.

Contractors
Buying carpet from a chain store can be as stressful and annoying as trying to buy a new car. Commission-based salesman and constant promotions often mislead homeowners into making a less-than-ideal decision for their new carpet. The first priority in undertaking a new carpet installation should be finding a quality carpet professional. Discussing your fiber and padding options, along with quality of different manufacturers, will almost always lead to the best result. Plus, professionals, not the salespersons, will be the ones in your home doing the work.
