Customers say: True professional

"Demetrio called right away when I inquired about the job. He brought sample pavers, gave sample book of different pavers and provided input on the project. We had to wait for an HOAs approval and his patience was greatly appreciated. Once approved Demetrio was on time and thorough. His crew was hard working and professional. We were MORE than pleased with the results. We love what Demetrio and his crew accomplished for us! Better than expected. We will be using him for other landscaping projects as they come up for sure!"

Small jobs welcome

"Kyle is an outstanding young man. He tackled a 1907 Farmhouse, a major full foundation replacement in brick and block, major chimney renovations, floor piers, numerous footings, a fruit cellar masonry rebuild and significant structural repairs done outside of a masons scope to an exceptional standard. Kyle is a staunch supporter of Veterans also, so in my professional opinion, this young mason is a mentally tough, respectful and focused confident business professional. Kyle gets the job done. I could not be more grateful for what he has done with an associate Zack, and for what these two young men took on and honestly, taught me in a generation not given the credit they deserve. Kyle is deeply respected and will finish the myriad of projects we have for him in mid 2022."

"Exceeded my Expectations. Charles and his Step By Step crew did 2 jobs for me. a 25'x30' blue stone patio, with gas firepit, sitting wall and drainage. Then did a 12'x12 Hot Tub Pad. couldn't be happier. will enjoy for years to come. Charles is young, but knowledgeable and professional. His main goal is customer satisfaction and to grow his business with happy customers!! He nailed it with me. Thanks Charles"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Advance, NC

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
