"Totally impressed with every staff person from Garrety. I was impressed that only two guys, Kevin and Dalton, did the actual construction. They arrived each day at or before the time that they said that they would. This was after they had to drive more than an hour to get to my home. The two of them delivered and unloaded all of the heavy lumber, cement, hardware, and tools for the platform construction. Six days later they delivered and unloaded the wall and roof framing, windows, and roof. Every day they cleaned debris from the work and sunroom areas and put tools and supplies away. They were very knowledgeable and clearly explained what the work plans were. They patiently and clearly provided answers to all questions that I had. On the first day, I was impressed that the two of them alone, each with digging bars and post-hole diggers, no machine tools, manually dug thesix 30" deep x 18" diameter post holes in my clay and rock soil. The second day was equally impressive as they came early again with a jack hammer power tool to remove the existing cement stoop porch. Each day the two of them alone progressed quickly on construction. Framing the 300 square-foot platform base (perfectly level), placing, securing, and blocking each 2x10 joist, cutting, laying, and caulking the foam board, and laying in the R-30 insulation, cutting, and securing the Advantech flooring. Their progress and efficiency continued as they cut out the 16"-centers roof trusses, attached the ledger board with two lag bolts into each truss as required by code, cut back the house shingles and attached the sunroom roofing and wall framing. The flashing, caulking, window installation, wrapping, fascia and gutter installation, and other details completed their perfect construction. Their precision and attention to detail shows completely in the final result. The sunroom is better than I expected. I love it. Everyone that sees it is impressed."

"Matt and his team with MNB Renovations did a 32 x 24 addition that was basically a home build from the ground up. I am still surprised for the size of this project how stress free the process was. Matt was very detailed and checked in on everything to make sure we were getting what we wanted. In the end he asked us to make a list of anything that needed to be addressed and there was absolutely nothing to mention. They did a perfect job, the quality of the work is amazing, and the entire team was very nice, professional, and trustworthy! I absolutely recommend this company to others and will definitely use them again in the future!"

"Bob and his partner were great! Very personable and do a beautiful job. Bob kept in contact about every step of the project and kept it close to the budget I was looking for. It was a small bathroom remodel and he turned into a very functional and charming bathroom. He even used the design ideas I had to bring it to life and even kept in contact after to make sure everything was working well still. Highly recommend!"

"Bottom line is that my wife and I love our sunroom. Of course my kids love it too but Kim and I primarily built the sunroom for the two of us where we spend most of our free time, or at least most of our happy free time.  <br /> <br /> PASunRooms (which is a franchise owner of Four Seasons Sun Rooms) is fantastic! When doing research, I found that not all franchises do a good job. So I looked up PASunRooms (and other companies) on Angies List, the Better Business Bureau, and anything else that I could find online or by talking to folks. I must say at the outset I was nervous about the idea of having a sunroom built because I had never been in one with a glass ceiling nor did I know anyone who had one. However, the general idea of being practically outside four seasons of the year was compelling. Another point that I was nervous about was the heating and cooling, I figured that the bills could be large and the "tree hugger" in me worried about the waste of energy.  <br /> <br /> Although I didn't realize how important this was at the beginning of the project, the team at PASunRooms made the whole experience wonderful. Ralph McKnight, the sales rep, was the linchpin during the whole process from helping Kim and me find a design that worked for both of us to my endless questions and changes. Ralph also helped us through the process of deciding on how to heat and cool the unit. We decided on a Fujitsu mini split (which costs about $2,700).  This HVAC is fantastic and makes our sunroom truly four seasons.  <br /> <br /> After the job was complete the sunroom did experience a leak that PASunRooms quickly fixed. My only suggestion to new sunroom owners is to thoroughly test their sunroom by using a hose to soak the outside, top to bottom, for at least five minutes.  <br /> <br /> Again, Kim and I couldn't be happier with our sunroom, and we'd pick PASunRooms again. <br /> <br /> Keith <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Akron, PA

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
