"Donner has done plumbing work for us the last 3 years, from simple leak repair to installing a hot-water recirculation system. They've always been prompt, professional, and fair, and done a great job. Lance is the best!"

"He arrived to look at the job, gave me an estimate, found the correct hardware and arrived early to get the job done. He was able to find the correct joists for the deck, get the nails for the job and also was able to lift the deck and nail a support beam into place. It is now much safer to use my decks. No more fear of falling. He did a fantastic job. He was prompt in arriving, kind, courteous and helpful. <br />"

"Everyone I dealt with conducted themselves in a friendly professional manner, from the people at their office to the person who called for the job details and quoted me a price to the technician who performed the work. No one tried to sell me additional services that I had not requested. The tech arrived in the time window scheduled and promptly began his work. His job was made easier because the rooms were empty. That said, he was hired to clean my carpets not be a furniture mover. The job was completed in a timely manner with all the expected followup. Ceiling fans were turned on and all lights were turned off and I was advised when the carpet would be dry and OK to walk on. In summary I could not have asked for, or expected, better service at a fair price. Assuming the same personnel, I would recommend HSC to anyone needing carpets cleaned."

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"It did not go well. I got conflicting stories from various people. When installers came, one did not speak any English. Neither introduced themselves. The countertop, despite two visits and laser measuring, was done incorrectly, with gaps at all four corners of the sink. They tried filing it in with adhesive, which fell out the next day. They then sent another person who did fix with gaps - albeit there should never have been gaps, but the guy who was to reset the sink, left it dripping on my rug, and then did not put it in straight and I had to insist that he sealed it. They left a mess both times when they left, and never apologized, and I never received a follow up on my satisfaction. The quartz itself is good quality but the service was bad and I would never use them again."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Alamogordo, NM

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
