"Our home is over 100 yrs old and never had a pantry closet. Troy did a wonderful job and improvised with the challenges he faced due to the fact that nothing is even in our home. Despite the challenges he faced, he was able to give us exactly what we wanted. He is also prompt. There arent that many good laborers in Muncie. I hope he stays around for another 10 years. This town needs him and we plan on using him again."

"Upon uncovering a leak during a rain, I emailed Maximus Contracting through Angie's List. They were my 3rd email sent but the previous 2 had other things going on and couldn't accommodate the 1-2 day appointment I needed to prevent further leak damage. Eric (Owner) was very responsive and responded to my email quickly. Upon return call, he said he could have someone there that day. Leo arrived and immediately assessed the situation and explained the required repairs to me. Upon his call to Eric and then Eric's call to me to discuss the repair cost, I was very satisfied with the agreed-to price. Eric even had Leo caulk the vent above the garage with no increase in cost. Leo left to get materials and returned in about 20 minutes. The actual repairs took him about 1.5 hours and after cleaning up, he was there for about 3 hours. The weather looked like rain and it did rain that evening and the next day, so I am grateful to Eric for answering my email and acting promptly. I will go back to Maximus General Contracting for any future home repairs. <br />"

"October 2014 contacted Gonzalez Home Improvement & Construction one day and they were out two days later to pull out chain link fencing and hauled it all away and cleaned up.  Set a date to deliver dirt to fill in deep holes in the yard where an excavator had hooked up from house to street sewer (and refused to fix their mess).  Gonzalez delivered the dirt and spread it. They did a great job!   Owner and workers were very polite on each visit. Will use them again. <br />"

"The two jobs I needed done went very well. I have hired JUD Construction do many large and small jobs around my 1950's era house. I had a new door installed in my kitchen and a new tub and tile in my main bathroom. The new door and the frame surrounding the door were painted according to my selected color of white and complements the kitchen which JUD Construction remodeled in 2017. The knob and lock set was removed from my old door and installed on the new door (one of the many things I like about this company is they re-use items when possible!). The new door is very tight and solid. In the main bath I had the old tub and tub surround removed and replaced with a new tub and ceramic tile from the tub up to the ceiling. A new faucet and shower head were installed along with a curved shower bar. The shower bar was permanently installed at the correct height so that the shower curtain and liner do not drag on the floor or inside the tub. The curved shower bar is great! I highly recommend it as it provides a lot more room; no shower curtain liner flapping around the legs. JUD Construction is the only contractor I will have do work on my house. Not only did I have great advice all along the way from Mike, Jason, and Nate, I was kept informed and updated when some of the supplies and materials were delayed. Doing these home improvements in the middle of the COVID Pandemic resulted in some unavoidable delays. The workmen were efficient, polite, and always cleaned the area up at the end of every work day. It was another great experience having JUD Construction work on my house! ."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Albany, IN

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
