"We had a great experience with Alpha Environmental. From scheduling the service time/date to the end of the crawlspace asbestos abatement was all very smooth and positive. The guys showed up on time, were very polite and cleaned up the area they had worked on. Other companies were more expensive and said they wouldn't be able to reach a certain area because the crawlspace is very tight. Alpha was able to do the entire job and showed us before and after photos. We would definitely recommend Alpha Environmental. "

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"The nicest workmen I've ever dealt with. I've lived here 19 years and had 100's of jobs done by various tradesmen of all shapes and sizes. But these guys are way ahead in the field of customer satisfaction. They have great customer service skills and really understood the job, and what mattered to me as a homeowner. I was really worried there would be a big mess left in terms of disturbing my landscaping, then I'd have to hire someone to come clean it up. I didn't have to worry though. They consulted me about what plants, bushes etc needed to be temporarily removed, and after the job was done, they put them all back. Fantastic! Highly recommended! <br>"

"After looking at Angie's List I contacted three local companies. Greg not only responded quickly he was very open, honest, and communicative in his response. He let me know up front what parts of the inspection he wouldn't be able to handle (well) and what he would give us as an end product. He was very patient with me in connecting over the phone when my schedule was very hectic. He showed up early and did a great job. The pipes were frozen the day he came so he couldn't do that part of the inspection and I wish we had paid him the small fee to come back out and complete it but we chose not to. The report was emailed to us quickly and then he provided us with a CD with the pictures for our records. We would recommend him and would use him again. The realtor felt the report was excessive, but this is the same realtor who checked the plumbing after it thawed and told us it was fine. While he was inspecting the home he warned us about the way the pipes were run in the attic and as soon as the pipes thawed, they burst. The sellers had to replace them and repair the damage. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />During the inspection, he found problems that he didn't have the official expertise to clear and recommended we get the appropriate experts to look at it, such as an electrician for the patch panels and a structural engineer to evaluate the cuts in the garage rafters. The VA inspector independently agreed that the rafters needed to be repaired and an electrician fixed the electrical issues before the VA inspection was done. We had to replace the pressure relief valve within 30 minutes of taking possession and turning on the water heater, then last week we had to replace the water heater, which is why it would have been better if we had brought Greg back in to inspect the water system; I'm certain he would have identified the problems and it would have been on the seller to fix it instead of us. <br />"

"They don't get any better -  Jim is an awesome home inspector.  He immediately responded to our call for his service, and was able to accommodate our urgent timeframe. He was extremely thorough in his analysis, provided us with a 70+ page inspection report, and identified issues he discovered that warranted attention prior to closing.  His use of thermal imaging is a must in Oregon. We highly recommend Jim! <br />"

"<p>I have used 3Rs Construction before and was more than impressed with how polite and respectful the whole crew was. I told them at the end of the last project of installing new siding that when I was ready to move forward with my new bathroom I would give them a call and I did and to no surprise they were still great to work with.  Like always the guys were on time and very professional. They kept the mess as contained as possible and finished the job on time as promised. Once again they exceeded my expectations. My bathroom turned out amazing; they improved everything just as I had hoped for, new tile, an amazing new walk in shower, new vanity, paint, and trim. They even took the time to point out several reasons the tile I originally had selected would not be a good fit for our lifestyle. (Thanks again you guys.) If you need any work done, I would happily recommend 3Rs. </p>"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Albany, OR

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
