"I told them about the best sealant and they went and bought it and applied it. They applied exactly what I wanted to the four sides. I know this because I talked to the vice president the next week and he told me everything they did. They did come out on a day that I wasn't here and they used a clear sealant so it's hard to know if anything was actually done. So, that's why I called and and talked to the VP and he told me things you wouldn't know unless you were up there. I thought the price might have been a little high. They did everything they were supposed to. The one thing I wish they would have done is called and told me what day they were going to be here, I didn't know they had been here until I got the bill in the mail. I will probably be using them this spring."

"The crew arrived on time and got right to work. They started around 7:30am and finished around 6:00pm. They were efficient, clean and left the property clean as if nothing had been done. They even cleaned out my gutters"

"In a nut shell, it went great. Terry is one of the nicest people I've ever met. He was very professional and met up with me frequently to make sure the house turned out the way I wanted it to. He squeezed my house in between two other projects and finished it in less than 2 weeks. He didn't just paint the walls. He added/fixed so many little details, many of which I wouldn't have thought of but contribute greatly to the finished product, like trimming a notch in one of my baseboards to make it fit around a heat return in the wall and so much more. He also had to do a lot of wall repair in the kitchen after removing a ton of little tiles from all over the walls. My house is small but it was a very big job. I love, love, LOVE the way it turned out and I am so proud of my house. He came out almost 2 months later to repair the door in my master bedroom after my dog panicked and tore it up. He sanded down the door frame and repainted it. What caused the dog to panic was having new counter tops installed, and the company doing the installation damaged my wall extensively when they removed the old counter tops. The company didn't measure the backsplash properly and had to take it be resized, leaving exposed, botched drywall covered in old glue. Terry came out within hours of my call and fixed the wall and painted it for me so it would look better for my open house, which was in 2 days. I really can't say enough good things about this company and I would highly, highly recommend!

"Elbert did a great job for me. Their price was less than the competitors for equal or better materials. The salesman was professional and helpful. The workman did an excellent job, they worked efficiently and quickly. They also cleaned up the area when it was complete. I liked them so well, they are doing a second job for me on my rental property. I highly recommend."

"They were a little expensive, but they did a very good job. They got them all messed up and somehow we got lost and it took 2 months to get them to come out after they first came out. They lost us somehow and I don't know what happened. I had to literally call them back and start over again. They were there exactly when they said they were coming the second time they came out. We called them and told them our roof was leaking. We got them from Angie's List, and then I had to call them back, and she said they can't find us anywhere. I would use them again. As a matter of fact, we would be calling them again soon."

"Fantastic contractor. I highly recommend them.
Initially another contractor was enlisted to do the work, but they never lived up to their promises and continued to delay the job.
I then contacted Absolute Home Improvements and they came right over and gave a very competitive quote.

I accepted their quote, set a date and Shawn kept me informed until the day worked started.
Prompt, courteous, priced competitive and kept in contact with me during a rain delay.
After seeing their work I expanded the roof repair work originally scheduled to add some new gutters.

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Allendale, IL

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
