"The overall experience went well and I was extremely satisfied by the efficiency, thoroughness, and care demonstrated by Mr. Kimani. Having arrived to complete the job and realizing that I did not have a correct part to complete the installation, Mr. Kimani went to retrieve the part on my behalf and returned to complete the installation the same day! I greatly appreciate his superb customer service and would recommend to anyone."

"The first company that was assigned by Choice Home Warranty did not show show or call for the scheduled appointment. I was told to contact the company, but I was not satisfied with the response and the new appointment. After complaining to Choice Home Warranty, they paired me with another company (HT Handy Works LLC). My plumbing issue was not covered under the warranty, but the company was able to resolve my problem, although it was costly."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"I spent about $8000 on the job. I had received other quotes and they were all about the same. The guy just convinced me that he was the guy to do the job. I will not recommend him to others. He was highly overpriced and the work was not fine. I was very unhappy in the end about what the job cost me compared to what he said it would cost. He asked me for more money and I refused to pay the same. Now, the work is done, I can see that it was not done the way it was meant to be. I can see where the mistakes were made. He ripped me off. It was not a very good experience. The deck was supposed to cost me about $300, but it ended up costing $1400. The siding job was good, though. The windows that he put in were supposed to have screens on them. I am not sure where he got the windows, but they came without screens. When I asked him about the screens, he said he would get them. He never brought them. He told me that I could always buy them for $5 a piece. I ended up buying two screens for $80. He could talk his way out of anything; he was a good talker. He was punctual initially, but he did not show up later. I was very unhappy with the money I had spent. He totally put me off. I will not use this company again in the future."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Allensville, KY

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
