"We were hesitant to use Empire but so glad we did! We had a rep from the carpet guys come out first and he wasn't very knowledgeable and had one carpet to choose from with what we wanted. The next day Empire came out, our sales lady was much more knowledgeable, very kind, and had many options in what we wanted! They have a promotion online that says buy one room, get all other rooms for $50 but of course that's only for crap carpet no one wants or buys so that was frustrating, but she worked with us on pricing and the carpet was installed 6 days later! (It could have been sooner but we chose to wait). We were a little concerned the day before installation because the email said they would come anytime between 8am-6pm, which worried us that they'd come late and not be finished that day. But two men arrived at 820am and were done, cleaned up and moved all of our furniture back by 1130am! It was a very smooth process and I'd recommend them to friends & family."

"CALLED FOR QUOTE AND CAME OUT THAT NIGHT.  HAD A VAN FULL OF SAMPLES.  GOT TO PICK THE CARPET WE WANTED AND IINSTALLED WITHIN THE WEEK.  HE SAID OUR PADDING WAS IN GOOD SHAPE AND THAT HE COULD JUST PUT NEW CARPET OVER TOP- VERY HONEST.  WE WOULD OF PAID FOR NEW PADDING IF HE DIDN'T TELL US WE COULD REUSE OURS.  CARPET LOOKS WONDERFUL-  HIRED TO DO MORE CARPET IN THE HOUSE."

"I actually have several carpeting company information on hand at last month of 2013. based on online review and previous customer's experiences. We called Bill's carpet and trying to get the quote. They answer the phone very quick and said they can have somebody to stop by my house and estimate my basement and give us quotation... I have 2550 sqare feet house, and walk out basement. The basement probably about 1100 sqare feet. The quotation is $2500 including carpet and labor, which my husbank and I accepted. We set up the installation schedule date for two days later. And they did very nice job and very efficiancy. My husband, two kids and I are all very enjoy our new carpet and all finished basement. <br />"

"It was great. They were excellent. They did a great job, the guys were very nice, and it was a very good experience. They stand behind their work. They get right out and do the job and they do a very good job. The guy was very conscientious, he went over his work and told me if I needed anything or if there was a problem, he would come back out even if it was a year later, so they stand behind their work. I wouldn't have even thought of that, so if I needed the carpets stretched out a year from now, it would be nice. The price was good too. I plan to use them for my future carpet needs and floor needs. They did such a great job that I said I would be getting back with them."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Almont, MI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
