Small jobs welcome

"They were very professional. They came in matched my color to the cabinets perfectly. If you want a big project that involves your kitchen cabinets refacing I highly recommend The Home Depot. I never went to the store everything was done in my house. Great Job."

"Our experience from start to finish was excellent. Diego’s crew of installers were extremely clean throughout the process, no trash was ever left anywhere. They arrived the day we scheduled and completed the job as they said they would. Our shower is gorgeous. Our salesman, Jerry was informative and through explaining the company and process. He was also here to do a final inspection when the job was completed."

"A Star company owner, Mr. Jesse T. Thomas, arrived on time. He was very polite and personable. Took him to our shower enclosure in Master Bathroom. Jesse explained how repair would be done, and how long it would take. Jesse's grout expert, Manny, arrived shortly thereafter. Manny re-grouted the shower and the result was fantastic. The shower looks better now than it did when it was first installed 4 years ago. Here is the most incredible surprise. After Manny finished the shower re-grouting, he took a close look at the Roman bath tub (which is next to but separate from the shower enclosure). He decided that the tub needed re-grouting as well. With my permission, he re-grouted the tub. I expected to be charged for this extra work, but there was no additional fee. I'm 73 years old, and I have NEVER had a contractor do anything for me for free. In summary, A Star Bath & Kitchen far exceeded my expectations, did excellent work, left the master bath area sparkling clean, and will be remodeling my guest bathroom for me."

"We recently purchased a home in which the previous owners had installed a wood floor in the master bedroom but did not carry the wood through to the master closet which was still carpeted. They left several boxes of wood and it was still in stock in case we needed more. We wanted to use that wood to complete the master closet, just over 100 square feet.
We contacted three companies - the company who completed the work for the previous owner which looks great (#1), and Floor It Today (#2) and one other company (#3) from Angie's List. I understood this was a very small project and there would be a minimum labor charge for a company to show up and do the work making the cost higher per square foot than for a larger project. We have installed wood floors previously, two nail-down and one glue-down, but wanted to contract this work anyway so we could focus on the move. The previously-hired company came in with the highest bid. Floor It Today and #3 has comparable bids but #3 offered their quote over the phone. The Floor It Today representative, Ahmed Mirza, visited our home in person to take measurements and answered all of my questions about the adhesive they would use; % wastage he predicted for a space this shape (so I would know how many more boxes I would need to buy); and scheduling forecast.
The work was scheduled for only six days later. This was fantastic because we were leaving the space empty until the work was completed but I wanted to unpack.
The installer, Alex, rang the morning of the work to let me know he was on the way and he arrived on time. He did a great job. As I mentioned before we have installed several wood floors previously and I am very particular. He did a good job of staggering the cuts on adjacent boards; minimizing materials waste; and cleaning the work space. He went back over several small areas with either a blade or orange oil to remove any speck of adhesive I saw. He also removed white caulk from an area where the wood floor touched a support wall in the closet (that was cut to fit the floor under it) and caulked it again with a brown caulk that better matched to flooring. All of this touch-up work was completed with zero grumbles or "are you serious?" looks.
Also, during the day Ahmed stopped by to check on the progress of the work and my satisfaction.
In summary, I am VERY pleased with the result and would recommend them for large projects based on the quality of work and customer service.

"I did a complete remodel in Timbergrove Houston. I gave Rafael the 3D design that we had completed by a third party. Rafael came out and took measurements and then provided us a detailed quote. His pricing is really competitive and materials are much better than the larger Houston Cabinet Shops. Rafael installed the cabinet bases after my floors were installed and walls were primed and painted. I had the granite installation scheduled after the cabinet bases were installed. Then Rafael came back to complete the drawer and door installations. I would highly recommend him to everyone in the Houston area. I've seen a lot of cabinets recently (including a few ~$1MM listings) and nothing compares to the quality of his construction. Rafael even completed the bathroom cabinets which were part of another contractors scope who couldn't complete their scope."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Alvin, TX

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
