"Greg came prepared to do the job with matching vinyl pieces! Other companies wanted me to compromise with a similar pattern that didn't match my current siding. Greg was very nice and did not mind my inquiries. He is going to come back at no charge and replace a piece of siding on the front of my home. I have also hired him to return in a few weeks to do some brick and mortar repair to my chimney. I am very satisfied with the professionalism and the quality of the completed repair work. Thank you, Greg"

"It's the Brick guys did a great job laying a landscaping brick wall. The owner Norris and salesman Adam were on the job to make sure our needs were met. Before installing the landscaping brick, they gave me options on how it would look. I would recommend then to family & friends. The workers were polite and professional"

"Great company and great people. I would use them again in a heartbeat. My experience started with a call to Gregg, one of the owners. He said he was just leaving my neighborhood but would be back in a week or two and would take a look at my project. In just over a week he did just that. When he was out he took a look around the whole house and found a few other spots that needed some brick work. On the day of the job Larry, one of the other owners, did a great job rebuilding the chimney. Gregg and the other guys did a perfect job rebuilding the brick foundation under the front porch and doing a couple other small brick repairs on the house. They went above and beyond. The front porch cement slab was not centered over the foundation and Gregg extended the brick on one side so the porch overhang was even. They came back on the second day to wash the brick and gave me a temporary step since the final paver work won’t be done for a month or so. They thoroughly cleaned up afterwards. Beautiful job. Reliable. Fair price. I’d highly recommend Pisani Contracting."

"November 2019. This was for an area including stone wall and chimney that needed tuckpointing . A sandstone slab was installed over an angled area on the side of the chimney because the chimney and fireplace had wetness issue, and the bare angled surface might have contributed to that. The slab does look nice. The stone was cleaned and together with new mortar from the tuckpointing looks better. A crown was installed at the top of the chimney to try to drain water better from there, since it may not have been running off well. We are hoping for the best for the spring rains! Fireplace dry so far and the exterior looks good."

"The guys did great work at a fair price. Once the weather finally cleared they were able to come and completed the brick work in one day. I had a question about part of the job possibly not being done. They came back out the week I called to confirm/take care of it. Everyone that I had contact with was knowledgeable, nice and responsive."

"Eric was prompt and arrived when he said he would. He did a great job cleaning the firebox. Actually, he did it better than the worker who did it last year. The reason I gave a C grade overall is that AFTER Eric completed the cleaning and reset the soot, grate and logs, he advised me that I should not burn any fires as I needed repairs completed as the firebox was not safe. I think that the time to tell me that would have been before I spent  the money to complete the cleaning and inspection. I also had estimates done for tuckpointing on the outside chimney bricks and repairs to the firebox. I decided to go with another company to have the work done.

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Ann Arbor, MI

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
