"Mike was easy to work with. When I first contacted him he got back to me right away and even came for a bid on the weekend. Due to a family medical issue we didn't end up doing the work until 9 months later. When I reached back out to him to schedule the job, he honored the same bid and scheduled the work without too much wait time. He showed up on time and did all the work requested. There are a few minor spots where the painter who was trimming touched the ceiling but it not very noticeable. They did things like remove the banister and outlet covers, painted and put them back on. He also gets the paint and takes care of that so all you need to do is pick out the colors. I would use him again. The only work I did was to remove the pictures from the wall. He also patched up the nail holes. I thought the price was very fair especially since I have a tall ceiling, and also since doing a kitchen paint job is a pain, painting around and under cabinets. (which is why we hired it out!) Nice job and finished in one day, two guys working. It was outstanding to me to leave for work and return home to the work done and cleaned up. Well worth the investment. My house looks very nice. He is also easy to work with via email. I liked that. Didn't have to wait and play phone tag, after the initial bid we communicated via email and it worked well.

"Everything was done better and faster than I expected! They were very knowledgeable about paints and the process. They even took on a few extra projects I needed painted such as some exterior cement wall and our porch swing. Very kind and professional!"

"Tom came out to bid on our project on May 22, 2014.  He was very thorough in explaining how much and what type of paint would be needed.  He was reasonable and fair with his estimate.  He came to our home on June 20th and prepped the entire area first. He asked us to come into the home to see the prep work.  Once we approved, he then started spraying all the ceilings.  As he was working, he asked us to come back in to see the difference between the newly painted area and the old.  Remarkable difference.  He sprayed the textured ceilings twice with primer/paint.  He did a nice job cleaning up.  Very personable and nice to work with.  I would recommend him.

"When I reached out to Tenzin, he was very responsive and showed up as promised to provide us a quote on the painting project.  His pricing was very competitive vs. others that we had asked for bid.  But most important to us was that Tenzin and his crew were available within the timeframe that we needed to have the project completed.

Our paint project took over a week to complete given the extensive nature of the work.  Not only did we have the entire interior and exterior repainted, but we had three wood doors resanded and revarnished.  In addition, we had bead board panels on our two garage doors that had warped.  Tenzin and his team ripped them off, resanded and repainted to doors.  These projects were not typical for a painting company to tackle and we were very appreciative that they did.

Overall, we could not have been more pleased with TM Painting. Not only was the quality of the work excellent, but their pricing was competitive and they were true to their word about what they would do.

I would highly recommend TM Painting and would rehire them in a heartbeat!!!"

"Don called 10 minutes before he was scheduled to show up, saying he'd arrive in 30 minutes, and stating he'd overslept. The first job was to replace brackets to straighten our drooping laundry room shelf.  Don told us that would not work, as the long shelf was bent from years of leaning--he said we'd need to replace the whole shelf with a new straight board.  Since we didn't have a board available to do that, he went outside to complete a painting job on our shed.  This was nicely done, as was his clean-up afterwards. The next job was to reconfigure and replace a closet shelf.  This job was done ok--the shelf is just a teeny off-kilter but it's usable. Since he was unable to do the first job in the laundry room, we had an hour left of his time.  We pointed out 3 more projects--re-stapling our stairway carpet in 2 places (he was unable to do that because we apparently didn't have the right kind of staple gun, but it was the stapler that we used to put in the carpet--go figure).  We asked him to paint the outside window frames on our lower level--Don said he couldn't do that because they needed to be power-washed first.  We then asked him if he could finish off the edges of some carpeting--he said he's never worked with carpet, so, no.  He was able to glue down 2 pieces of tile in our bathrooms that had come loose.  As a final project, we asked him to remove the laundry room shelf, since he said it needed to be replaced with a straight piece of wood. Don removed more than just the shelf--he tore out the brackets and all the trim boards, oops--we were planning to leave those and use them when we installed the new shelf.  Now we need to do more repair than we'd planned.  Guess we thought we were clear in that we just wanted the bent shelf removed--obviously not.  Don did do a nice job of cleaning up, carrying the shelving out to the garage and stacking it neatly.  Overall, we had an okay experience, but both my husband and I felt Don was too quick to come up with excuses as to why he couldn't do some of our projects.  We used another handyman last year through Angie's List, who was awesome--we will go back to him now to help us repair our laundry room shelf.

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Annandale, MN

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
