He said he tries to leave things as clean, or cleaner, than when he arrived and he certainly did. He gave me some valuable information about how to prevent the fireplace from putting smoke in the room in a tightly sealed house. The whole visit took about 50 minutes. "The estimate for repair was $1470. Various things were done to make the drainage better. In the next rain, I noticed water was still getting in. They came back and figured out that most of my chimney had damage from (for example) woodpeckers. I then paid an additional $2280. It looks nice now. I think they did a good job, but it cost a lot, and a lot more than the original estimate. They were punctual and professional, but communication could have been better. Some personal explanations about what they were doing and why would have helped. What I got was electronic descriptions of what they were doing, but not why and the reasons it was the right thing to do. It is hard to judge the quality for a long-term solution to my water problem without observing long-term."

"With the job complete we now have a new roof that shows pride in workmanship; the chimney brick has been cleaned and resealed; and the chimney flashing resealed and repainted. Mike Beck gets an A+++ as the operations manager. His customer service goes above and beyond. He kept us informed of his intentions each day and gave us numerous courtesy calls. Mike and the owner, Mr. Fitzgerald, operate with utmost integrity following through with their word. The cost of the job exactly matched the estimate as Mike said that it would. <br /> The roofing part of the job was completed in 2 1/2 days. The workers were slowed down one of the days because of extreme heat. Mike often checked on his crew. In the meantime, his lead man kept the job progressing nicely. The crew was comprised of “Good ‘Ol Boys” from Alabama. When the job was complete, the area was cleaned up and nicely swept. <br /> When we discovered that the shingles we selected did not have ridge cap shingles comparable to what we currently had (3 layers of asphalt), Mike went to great lengths to find a match in another brand. Ultimately, it didn’t exist, but he came up with a compromise that in the end looked very nice. <br /> We had originally requested ridge vents, but when calculating the amount of air flow needed for the size of our house, Mike determined that we were borderline on having enough ridge line to meet the requirement. So, the existing power vents were instead replaced with new ones. <br /> While wiring the power vents in the attic, Mike lost his footing and stepped through the sheetrock putting a hole in our living room ceiling. He was quite dismayed having never done such a thing before. (This prompted us to improve the walkway in the attic). He immediately called Mr. Fitzgerald and scheduled the ceiling repair for the next workday. <br /> Mr. Fitzgerald and his son not only restored the ceiling to its like original state amazingly matching the popcorn ceiling texture, but they blessed us with additional sheetrock repairs. These guys know what they are doing when it comes to sheetrocking. They do an outstanding job taping and mudding sheetrock. They taped and mudded 5 cracks in our sheetrock and retaped and mudded a previous botched job by a different contractor. They were careful to enclose in plastic the area being repaired and to protect the floor with a covering. They vacuumed and cleaned up the work site afterwards. They did all this work for free as a favor to compensate for the inconvenience. <br /> Mr. Fitzgerald and his son also replaced a piece of metal siding near one of the eaves and they were very precise in refitting the piece. <br /> Mike power washed our chimney and let it dry properly before resealing it with Thomson’s Water Seal. He volunteered to repaint the flashing around the chimney to match the new power vent covers. <br /> We highly recommend Fitzgerald and Beck Roofing and Construction. <br />"

"Brad was great to work with. Very friendly and confident in his work. The recent cold and wet weather caused a few delays and issues, but when the weather got nicer, they were back on the job and fixed the few minor issues caused by the weather. The limestone foundation was had a lot of cracks and crevices, but was covered very well. Only found a few spots that were quickly fixed where the shadows and cracks hid whether it was painted thoroughly or not. "I needed repairs to a skylight from squirrel damage, and shingles replaced and a section of gutters repaired from a large tree branch hitting roof.  Found Colbalt Roofing on Angie's List and called to get estimate.  Set a time to meet David Francis (Cobalt) at my home to discuss repairs.  As soon as David got on the roof he mentioned it looked as though the roof had hail damage.  I really didn't pay that much attention to his comment as the roof had been replaced within the last 8-10 years and it looked fine to me other than the damaged area from the tree branch and the skylight.  He took notes and said he would work up an estimate and get back with me within 24 hours.  The next day he sent me a reasonable estimate $375.00 to repair the skylight, repair damaged section of gutter, and replace small section of wood on roof and put down new shingles.  We scheduled a time for the repair.  He again mentioned that roof looked like it had hail damage and recommended I consider calling my Insurance Company.  Although I had doubts I called them.  They asked that I hold off on the repairs until they send a claim adjustor. I notified David and he said no problem and stated he would meet the adjustors when they arrived if needed.  The insurance claim adjustor came and confirmed there was severe hail and wind damage to the roof.  He demonstrated to me on section in the roof where there were lines in the shingles and he grabbed and flipped them up.  He also noticed hail damage to the gutters not caused by the tree branch.  There were numerous dents in the gutters and downspouts and numerous scratches and dents in the other four skylights that I thought was just normal wear and tear.  Because of the extensive damage on the roof the adjustor asked to look at the inside of the house where he found minor damage and water spots on the ceiling in three rooms.  Some needed minor repair to the drywall and repainting.  All the repair was covered under my policy other than the damage caused by the squirrel, minus the deductible.  David at Cobalt Roofing provided an estimate for repairs with like materials (architectural shingles) within the insurance claim estimate.  He also offered the opportunity to upgrade the quality of the roof shingles to a shingle called Presidential Shake because of a surplus he had from a previous job that matched the color of our house.  Because of the surplus and with the deep discount  I was able to obtain the higher quality shingles at the same cost of the architectural shingles.  The roofing crew was very professional  and did an excellent job. It did take a little longer than anticipated because of bad weather.  Every evening the crew did a thorough cleanup before departing.  After the roof was completed the painting crew came in and made repairs to the drywall, painted and cleaned up in one day.  My wife and I are extremely pleased with the quality of the work performed.  We now have the best looking roof in the neighborhood."
