"I have been using Dusty Brothers for about a decade for chimney cleaning and some repair work. Dusty Brothers has always done a professional job at a reasonable price. I do not use them for dryer vent cleaning. My vent is only about 4 feet long. I do it myself. You may want to consider the length of your vent before having them do it. That could save you a chuck of change."

"Mr. Robert Helm was out last August (2014) for an estimate and to meet with my insurance adjuster, but we had a baby in September and the repair job fell off our radar until this Spring (after I noticed a few more shingles blown off in our yard). The repair costs were less than our deductible, so it would be out of pocket. After reconnecting in Spring, he returned my call promptly and was able to schedule the work to within a couple days of my requested window. Robert is a super nice guy and easy to work with. Very accommodating and extremely honest. After the job, he calculated actual material costs and time spent and it came out to be less than the original estimate! He took great care in matching the shingle and the work looks great. No damage to anything and NO MESS. Also, I was appreciative that he didn't call CPS on us after seeing the "cage" with a kid's chair in it that my daughter uses as her pretend jail on her playground. LOL. Excellent experience all around and I'll definitely use him for future work. I've already recommended him to others. A big thanks to Mr. Helm for another great service experience from Angie's List!"

"While receiving estimates from several contractors for new roofing, it was pointed out that the chimney was in need of repairs. Since I had contracted Masoner & Sons for masonry repairs several years ago, I contacted Ken Masoner to see if he would be available for this job, as well as some work on the brickwork above the foundation. He was very prompt in coming by and providing an estimate, and was able to complete the work shortly afterward. I will definitely call him anytime I need masonry work or repairs.
"

"Everything was great! Terry was responsive and reasonably priced. He managed to fit me in to a cancellation he had on the same day. The work was finished in an hour. There were no issues with cleanup or anything like that. Very happy with the service provided!"

"Before the job was sold the sales team headed by Mike Hawkins were very professional, courteous but right after the signed contact job was delayed due to their internal department mixup. I was not communicated of any delay and had to call numerous people to get the response. During the whole process they worked with my insurance company and finished the work on time and the roof looked great. Right after job was completed I noticed my porch gutter leaking at the joint. It was a new leak which I thought would be the result of shingles being thrown while install. After sending video of the leak to the sales, install and customer service I didn’t get any response then finally I complained to their General Manger Grant and he came to inspect the leaking gutter and said the age of the gutter may be the cause of the leak but he will get it caulked. It has been more than a week, email and text message to their General Manager Grant has still not fixed the leaking gutter. Roof replacement was a good job but if there is any problem later on with their work I will not depend on their warranty commitment. I will not recommend them to others for their after sales service commitment."

"My 25 year roof was approaching the end of its life and I had experienced a couple of minor leaks which were patched the last couple of years. It needed to be replaced. In addition I have always had issues with the front down spout which was not adequate to carry away the volume of water being shed from a very large roof. I also asked for a gutter guard to be installed at the rear of the house since the rear gutter was so high that I could not clean it.
I had three other quotes from other roofing contractors. All were quoting the same equivalent shingles. And all quotes were within 1% to 2% of each other. Except that the other three did not inclued the gutter guard or down spout replacement. The others said that I needed to go to a gutter specialist for that part of the job. A&B handled the whole job. Also, one contractor stated that he would put twelve people on the job and have it finished in one day. I didn't feel comfortable with a quick job that may have sacrificed quality. A&B was the only contractor to specifically quote 5 nails per shingle.
Dave, one of the owners, would stop by about twice a day to make sure everything was going smoothly and ask if I had any questions. The foreman and two to three installers were present on-site everyday. They cleaned up every evening and used a dump truck to carry away the debris. (No dumpster in the driveway) When they left they used a magnetic pick-up to make sure there were no nails left in the lawn.
Additionally, about four weeks after the job was completed we had a large thunder storm with high winds. I noticed that the one end of the ridge vent was pulled up so I called A&B. I called at 8:00AM and Dave returned my call at 10:00AM. He stated that he would call his foreman to schedule him to look at the problem. At 1:00PM that day A&B came to the house and fixed the issue and inspected the entire ridge vent to make sure everything was good.
"

"
After exceptionally heavy rain, water was dripping from the metal plate in the ceiling around the vent stack from the furnace. We had 2 roofers do quick fixes but the leak continued when there was heavy rain.

Scott from Old Fort Roofing did a thorough inspection of the vent stack in the house where the vent stack goes through the ceiling, in the attic, and on the roof.

After he had assessed the roof, Scott recommended replacing the boot around the vent stack where the it emerges from the roof.

Scott was very professional and evaluated the total situation. . He also recommended that we remove the insulation in the attic that was damp from the leak, allow the ceiling drywall to thoroughly dry and then replace the insulation to avoid the possibility of mold

"

"verall I was pleased with the outcome of this project. The overall grade given, however, reflects two main issues that I believe could have easily been avoided. I will make reference to these under the different grading criteria definitions below.
Grading criteria for home service professionals:
* Price -Do you feel you paid a fair price for the service you received?
The quote was competitive with the other quotes I received.
* Quality -Did the service meet your expectations of quality?
The roofing crew that was on site each day worked very hard and the finished roof looks fantastic. The issue I have was that size of the roofing crew shrunk each day. On Thursday, a crew of eight showed up, stripped and tar papered the whole roof.
On Friday, only four of them showed up on site. By Saturday, which was to be the finish day per the contract, only three guys came. I was told by those on site that the others were called but that they simply didn?t respond, which meant they worked short-handed, loosing guys to the ground that could have been on the roof. A special thanks to Bryan, Clint, and JR, the only three to show up all three days, for all of your hard work. By the end of the day Saturday, they discovered that they were two square short on shingles, one required to finish the roof and one extra for potential repairs. This meant I had to sweep my back yard for weekend use and they had to come back on Monday to finish. This is pure speculation, but I believe that had the same crew of eight showed up on Friday, all of the shingles on site would have been installed and the material shortage discovered in time to get what was needed in order to finish on Saturday. This also forced me to have to sweep my back yard for nails in order to be able to be outdoors in it over the weekend.

The second big issue I had was in regard to the lack of protection of the landscape. The bid stated that plants around the house would be protected from shingle debris (see additional comments below in the responsiveness section). I was very
disappointed that almost no attempt was made at first to protect the landscape until I walked outside and found one of three large flowering hibiscus nearly destroyed on the east side of the house. Upon pointing it out, they did cover the other two by leaning a sheet of plywood over them but not before damage had already been done. And I?m not sure why not from the start?? In the front bed, there was a lot of damage including the three large hydrangeas. I am not a roofer but certainly had several easy ideas for making a solid ramp that could have shed the shingle debris. They attempted to use a tarp but that was no match for the weight of the debris they were tossing down. While these plants will hopefully recover next year, we were left with a mess for the rest of this year. My suggestion, be prepared to oversee this part of the project yourself if you select this
contractor because otherwise you may find yourself very disappointed or very angry.
* Responsiveness -Did the service professional respond to your phone calls, questions and comments in a timely manner?
Ron Byers responded to my online request for a quote and was out to measure within 24 hours of initially submitting my request. He submitted his formal request soon afterward. He was also able to adjust my original starting date forward nearly a week early, which really worked out well.
In regard to the shingle debris issue noted above, when I called Ron regarding the damaged landscape, he didn?t seem to be concerned in the least or interested in coming out to the site to view the damage upon my invitation. He simply stated that even
though the contract stated that landscaping would be protected from shingle debris, there?s never a 100% guarantee that damage won?t occur but they try their best. Had he come out, he could have seen that nearly all of mine could have been easily avoided.
I was directed to one of the crew on Friday as being the foreman (not sure what called?). However, it was Bryan, one of the crew from day one and the only one who showed all four days, who addressed any/all of my questions and concerns. I really
appreciated his effort all the way around.

* Punctuality -Was the service professional on time for your appointment? Were you left waiting past the appointment time? Did they call to let you know when they would arrive?
Again, Bryan was the one who did most of the communicating and was very good at letting me know when and what was going on each day.

* Professionalism -Were the professionals courteous and polite? Did they make your experience a good one?
In spite of the two issues noted above, overall I was pleased with the outcome. Those that were here each day were courteous
and hardworking.
"
