"Radon level was 11.5 before remediation and .24 after, so the result could not have been better. The installer, Dave, was first class from start to finish and owner Marc graciously adjusted his schedule to fit me in sooner as I requested. My only complaint was the price, and only because the home inspector who tested the radon levels told me the cost would be $800 to $1,500. My realtor said about $1,000."

"As a first time home buyer at the age of 26, I was not sure what to expect with the inspection. Scott was a pleasure to work with from the start. He was very professional from our first phone call. He made it very clear how the process would work on the day of inspection and outlined all costs before we even scheduled with him. This professionalism continued into the day of the inspection. He was early to the house. He was very thorough as he inspected every inch of the outside and inside of the house, top to bottom. He allowed us to walk along with him and effectively answered any questions we had. He got our report back to us the next night after the inspection because he knew we were on a tight timeline with closing. Everything he mentioned to us as we walked through the house was on the inspection report with pictures included. He even answered promptly when I had additional questions after we heard back from the selling side about our repair request. I highly recommend using Scott for your home inspection. I will be using him again when I move next."

"Home Inspection and Radon Test.  Nick is A#1+++. From the call to set up a test dated, Nick returned  my call promptly and explained what would be done and all costs. No hiden cost or problems. Arrived right on the appointment inspection time and went right to work. Out side home inspection, roof top inspection of second and first floors roofs. Moved inside and pointed out problem areas as he went along.  Basement and first floor radon test also. Inspection on a Friday, emailed detailed report on Saturday morning with many pictures and suggestions of what to do to correct problems. I would most definitely use and recommened Nick again and to anyone else."

"I contacted three different companies to obtain estimates. Only one, RTE, offered to come out and inspect the property and thoroughly explain what would be needed. There was no pressure to sign a contract. The other two companies had me answer questions about the house and then sent their estimates. I was impressed that the owner of the company himself came out to provide the estimate. Their expertise, customer service, and quality of work far exceeded my expectations. I just got back the results of the post-remediation testing and level was reduced to 1.2, I highly recommend this company. They serve a wide area of the Delaware Valley."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Ardmore, PA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
