Small jobs welcome

"Chris did a really good job on the inspection. The report was thorough, easy to follow, and showed a good eye for both safety issues and long term maintenance concerns. He documented things clearly, included useful photos, and explained the findings in a way that was practical and easy to get. He’s obviously careful, knowledgeable, and takes his work seriously. We would definitely recommend him."

"Chris was very professional on the phone and it surprised me that, for such a low price, I was getting as much as I did! MA CARRES is a FHA 203k qualified inspector (though I only hired him as a home inspector) AND a Realtor so I got a little bit of everything when he and his employee came. The fact that they are retired firefighters was a bonus as I had some questions about darkened wood and they let me know where the CO2 detector should really be located for best effect. I definitely will use MA CARRES in the future!!"

"We were able to schedule an appointment with Mr. Lindsay on very short notice. I called him on a Friday and was able to schedule an inspection with him for the following Monday. He was punctual, polite and professional. He welcomed us to follow him around during the inspection and ask questions. He was also receptive to hearing our particular concerns about the home and addressing those concerns in his report in addition to his findings. Before leaving the home, Mr. Lindsay took the time to review his list of issues with the home with us to make certain nothing was missed for his final report. He completed and sent us the report very quickly (within 24 hours). The report was neat and detailed with pictures clearly illustrating any/all issues with the home. His work was also very affordable. I would definitely recommend him to a friend or family member in the future."

"These guys were AWESOME. They arrived within 90 minutes, assessed, estimated, and had equipment already with them to handle our flooding. They moved the furniture, explained how it all worked, came back half way through (it was a 3 day process), moved the fans, and then put it all back when they were done at the end of the 3rd day. If every company worked like this - had staff as professional, friendly, and reassuring as these guys - there'd be no need for a better business bureau! Love them. Don't hesitate to use them!"

"OUTSTANDING AND PROFESIONAL WORK. Dominic is a professional, he's not bias about anything. If something doesn't seem right with your property he will tell you straight up. He gave me the best quote out of the five quote I consulted. Took pictures of everything he saw, he was at the job site on time, wrote a very detailed report with pictures of the property, he gave me tips for future references on how to maintain your future home. If you're looking for professionals on the field, Dro Services, LLC are the ones you need. Outstanding, thank you very much Dominic!"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Washington, DC

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
