"This was a great experience from start to finish. They arrived on time got and got the work done with zero mess even though this involves drilling a large hole in the basement floor. The system did what it’s supposed to do and reduced radon levels to almost 0. I am very happy with this company and would highly recommended them. The price was great too."

"Eric contacted me shortly after searching Angie's List. I described what I needed, a radon mitigation system, and he provided a written estimate via email. Much lower than what I expected. Eric was able to come out in a few days and install the system. Installation time was about 3 hours. No additional charges. He returned to the house three days later to retrieve the radon monitor and showed me the current reading of 1.0 pC/l, well below the 11.0 pC/l from a prior test. A formal report was emailed the same day; the avg reading was 0.8 pC/l. I highly recommend hiring Radon Fix."

"I had two goals for this basement project: 1) Mitigate the radon and 2) encapsulate my crawl space using vapor barrier materials that I had purchased. I spoke with the owner (Dan) and he said his crew would collaborate with me to meet my expectations. The workers did a great job. They were friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and very respectful of my property."

"Ray showed up on time (early actually - before us!) and did a thorough visual inspection of the outside of the house and roof. He did not climb on the roof, but used binoculars to view any damage. He went inside the house and started with the attic and worked his way down. I was shocked that he was able to get through the outside, to the attic, second floor and first floor in an hour! He pointed out that usually he finds more and so it doesn't go that fast (good for us!). The finished basement and utilities in the basement were where we had expressed the most concern, so he spent a great deal of time down there. He showed us things along the way and provided maintenance tips that would help us out 10-15 years down the road. After he was done, he sat down with us and went through the whole report (which we were given a copy of). He provided a lot more tips for us and told us some things we had no idea of (like maintaining granite and the stamped concrete paver). He told us it was a really great house and we should be happy with how the inspection went. He only found one thing that needed fixed quickly and we were so grateful he pointed it out."

"Out Radon did an excellent job. They were helpful on the phone before I committed. They also quoted me a lower price than anyone else, did a professional install, and then stood by their price. I am quite pleased with the whole experience and recommend them highly."

"Merwyn showed up on time, before I arrived, and was very professional. I stayed at the home with him during the inspection and he would point out and explain everything to me that he noticed. He was able to talk to me about remedies and his concerns in ways that I was able to understand. I have never had a more thorough home inspection done. He spent over 5 hours inspecting our soon-to-be new home and didn’t miss one inch. I even forgot to tell him the home had a second detached finished building that needed to be inspected as well and he adjusted his price very reasonably so both buildings could get inspected with zero complaints from him. Merwyn had a very detailed report of everything he found to me the next day, with pictures, and it was very impressive. I would highly recommend Home Inspection Services of Lancaster to anyone looking to get their home inspected!"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Columbus, OH

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
