"I had a kitchen sink leak thought it was a easy fix. Called Provost Plumbing after checking out their Angie's List rating. They responded the same night I called. Pat, a young plumber came in the morning and told me we need a new pull out hose. I ordered a hose online and it came in two days. I called Pat and he came and replaced the pull out hose. But leaking continued. We had to call Pat back and found out another pipe was leaking. Pat recommended we replace entire kitchen water faucet including the new pull out hose he just put on. I couldn't trust Pat 's words anymore since he missed the real issue the first time. I wanted to talk to his manager Ross. I told Ross I want the same finish and same style as the one we had before. Ross picked a high end model FHF 100 and put it on the same day I spoke to him. He charged us $1,204 for the faucet and $189 for the house call. Total bill for me was $1403. The part was kind of expense. I saw Amazon.com selling it for around $850 and another one for as low as $700. But Ross had to get it from a local supplier that he trusted therefore his part was not competitive in price. He didn't trust online supplier because the high end water faucet can be counterfeited. Overall I like their responsiveness. Ross waived the fee for Pat's second trip. $1400 for a new kitchen faucet. It is expensive but it is of good quality. At my request, Ross also sent back the old leaking faucets and the new pull out hose ( Jado brand) he replaced when he put on the Frankie faucet. Ross is very busy and according to Pat, he is going to school for advanced plumbing causes. But he kept his promise and sent back the parts when he had a moment. I appreciated that very much. He was too busy to process the invoice timely but that doesn't matter to the customer- I get billed the amount we agreed on. I think I am going to call Provost Plumbing again if I have another plumbing repair need.

"Technician came to the house and analyzed the problem. It was determined that the cost of repair was over the allowable Choice Home Warranty limit and it should be replaced. Choice Home Warranty issued their replacement cost. This cost was unacceptable and I challenged their figure. After some negotiation I was offered an increased settlement amount. I still balked at their offer but I was told to take it or repair my old microwave. I finally accepted their amount, even though it is still well below what it will cost me to replace the unit. I might add that the existing microwave has the convection feature and I want to replace with same features. The cost that I will receive also does not include any removal, disposal or installation costs. At this time I am debating whether I will continue with Choice Home Warranty or consider other options."

"Tony was able to clean the coils and replace the thermostat and fan, repairing my 9-yr old refrigerator which hadn't been cooling properly. He was on time, did a thorough job, was reasonably priced, and was neat. My refrigerator and freezer are now working great!"

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Ashby, MA

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
