"I called and spoke with Michele and explained my issues. She was not sure they could get to us that week (they are located near Batavia), but called me back after 20 minutes to set up a home visit. Dan happened to be in Syracuse one day that week, so we made an appointment for the 15th. Dan tested our water, explained the system we have in the house currently, and soon deducted that our boiler system had been serviced about the same time that the problem began. As it turned out, the Anode rod that was put in our water heater was the wrong type, and was causing the iron to pull from the water and caused the smell. Once we removed the anode rod, the smell went away and the iron problems diminished almost immediately. We did change to resin guard salt pellets to help the softener system stay clean. Thank you Dan! <br />"

"I was impressed with the responsiveness of this business. They called me right back after my initial call and were able to schedule an appointment within a few days. (I didn't suggest the problem was especially urgent.) Mr. Harding was on time and worked efficiently. He also let me know if I bought a coil snake I could still access the pipe without removing the drain cover, so in the future I could take care of these occasional clogs myself. <br />"

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"They showed up on time that morning and got to work immediately. They had a fair amount of work cut out for them, as I was converting my home from a 2-family home back to its original single-family home layout. They removed the 2 old hot water tanks that were in the basement, reconfigured the plumbing to tie everything together into 1 system, replaced a lot of shoddy plumbing done by previous homeowners, and installed a tank-less water heater. They completed the work the same day. There were no significant, unpleasant surprises. The work was completed 10 months ago, and there hasn't been an issue since."

Kaminski Plumbing & Heating

"We have been using Bob Kaminski for years for all our plumbing needs. A few years ago, Bob and his assistant replaced our submersible water pump in sub-zero weather. He has done all sorts of jobs for us from basic plumbing (unplugging drains, fixing heat runs, installed a pump monitor) to a complete renovation of our existing plumbing and heating. <br /> We have gutted a large portion of our house and Bob and his assistant installed all the new heat runs. He added a run to our bathroom closet, which had no heat source in the past, and repaired an existing run in our kitchen that had rusted out. In addition, they replaced all the existing cast iron water pipes with flexible pipe and individual shutoff valves. <br /> Bob is easily accessible (home phone and cell) and has a 24 hour service. We have never had to wait more than 24 hours for Bob to appear and he works after hours if we have an emergency. In addition, he does excavating, septic clean out and boiler systems. <br /> He is very friendly and his rates are very affordable. We highly recommend him for all plumbing and heating needs and will continue to use him in the future. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Attica, NY

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
