"ight from the start I felt very comfortable and in good hands with Comprehensive Mold Management. Linda, the Customer Relations Manager was so easy to speak with and her demeanor instantly calmed my fears. My questions were answered in a straightforward manner and her guidance and follow up throughout the process were top notch. Ken from CCM met my husband without me and my husband, who wanted to ignore the issues in our home, was a changed man. Ken's matter of factness allowed my husband to see what we needed to do to remediate our home. Ryan and Lamont were the workers/technicians who worked at our home for three days. CMM is so very fortunate to have these two employed with CCM. They were kind, considerate, professional, precise and just downright good people. I cannot sing their praises enough. I highly recommend Comprehensive Mold Management."

"After Healthy Homes did such a great job on my rental apartment, decided to see if they could help me with the cigarette smell in my car. Was sold a small handheld fog machine and some Un-Odor product. Fogged the entire interior of my vehicle, sprayed the product on all surfaces. After washing the windows with Windex and wiping everything down with a dry towel, the car was free from odor and looked and smelled clean and fresh! Fantastic Products!!!"

"Tom's great. This is the second home he inspected for me. The first home - he found maybe 50K worth of work, probably more. Some of it was obvious, a lot of it was not. That's why you get Tom. The first home eventually sold to a friend of a friend. That person is now in renovation ****. The person apparently didn't realize the extent of work that was needed. Small things too like vents not matching up where they should, wiring that needs to be replaced, tiny spots of asbestos. The realtor for the project screamed at me (literally) that Tom wasn't any good. I guess not for her, I bagged on the deal and another sucker bought the house through another realtor. The new house inspection went smoothly. Found some rot, some problem areas for moisture and a bump in the roof. Nothing that's close to being a show stopper though. Walking on the inspection with Tom is like going to school. Just watch and listen. If I close on the house, I have my punch list ready to go for what's needed immediately and what's on the wish list. I'm sure lots of home inspectors are great. I really like Tom and will continue to use him."

"Peter was there 15 minutes early and began looking at the outside of the house. Explaining in detail issues that needed to be rectified and also giving us an idea of the cost involved in the repair. He was so thorough and patient. Pointing out the positives and the negatives. We felt comfortable enough to ask questions and for further explanations. We were very impressed with his knowledge."

I obtained my Bachelors degree in Architectural Design and Engineering in 2006. Since then I have worked with a number of local architects and engineers designing some amazing homes and structures. I also started Guyer Properties in 2008 and I own and manage several investment properties from Syracuse NY to Oswego NY. In 2013 I decided I wanted to set my own hours and answer to my wife only, so I went back to school and started J Guyer Home Inspections. With my strong background in architecture and working with investment properties, inspecting was already second nature to me. I enjoy meeting new people every day, and most of all I sincerely enjoy helping and teaching people all about home ownership and maintenance. Buying a home for most people is the largest investment they will ever make. Don't just settle for the inspector with the lowest fee, do some research, read reviews and select the one with the best tools to help you make an informed decision.

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Auburn, NY

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
