"Matthew was professional, courteous, kept his work space and equipment tidy, and his craftsmanship was outstanding. It was refreshing to find someone that was trustworthy and knowledgeable. In addition to putting in a new sidewalk, he also fixed a crack in my foundation, fixed a sunken downspout, and tree removal. He is an extremely hard worker and cares about the quality of his work. I will gladly hire Matthew for future home improvement projects."

"The job initially was done well and it looked beautiful. The limestone and the versalok steps have maintained their quality and durability well. However, we have had major problems after 2 winters with the stamped concrete. After the first winter, we observed several areas where it broke up and we called Tony. He was difficult to get hold of, and he finally came over and took a look at it. He said, "did you use rock salt" and I said "yes, you didn't tell me not to." He said he always recommends Ice Melt to his customers. I told him if he had, I would have purchased and used it. He power washed the broken areas and sealed them. After the second winter, during which we only used Ice Melt, almost the entire walkway was broken up It looks like someone took a jack hammer to 3/4 of the walkway; there's one section that has no damage. He came over after several calls, talked with my husband and said "this is much worse than any rock salt could have caused. Maybe when the concrete was mixed, they didn't put the right amount of air in it." He suggested adding 2 inches of concrete over the walkway, which my husband doesn't want to do, or sealing it again. He said he would provide the labor and we would have to pay for the materials. He also said he'd get back to us on cost. That was well over 2 months ago. He did not call or E-mail us with estimates. We've called his number numerous times and left messages and still haven't heard back from him. The job cost us $10,000. It's very disappointing that he is so difficult to get hold of and that we have a crappy-looking sidewalk. We'd like Tony to contact us ASAP to make an appointment to come and re-seal the walkway again."

"Scott did a great job as usual. I use him all the time. He cares about the job he does and it shows. He is not the hurry up and get the job done so I can get to the next customer, contractor. He is not a spray on contractor, nothing gets on walkways or garage doors, which I like, because of the acrylic walkway we have. If you hire him you will not be sorry. We have used him for the last 5 yrs."

"Jim was absolutely phenomenal! He did our entire concrete patio in the backyard and continued it down the side to the front of the home. He and his crew we’re kind, hard-working, meticulous, and very thorough. He does great work for an amazing price as well! We will also be using him again in the future when we redo our driveway to tie it altogether. I highly recommend! Thank you Jim!"

"Extremely professional and excellent craftsmanship. Prior to starting the work, Brian was very thorough in assessing what needed to be done and was flexible in accommodating my schedule. As they started the work, they took the time to show me what they were doing and explain what needed to be done to make the necessary repairs. Andrew, who did the bulk of the work, did a beautiful job. He was meticulous, very neat, and did excellent work. The work took four days to complete, and he left the site spotless each evening and was prompt each morning. I found them both to be very friendly and trustworthy and would hire them again. I could not be more pleased with the job that they did."

"Estimate matched another contractor.  <br /> He was thorough, comfortable to work with and answered all of our questions. <br /> Day 1 they removed old walk and set up forms. <br /> Day 2 they prepped the stone and mesh. Poured and finished.  <br /> Day 3 they removed forms. <br /> Design matched up well with the existing public walk and driveway. <br /> The crew was careful to mask off a recent set of steps to assure no concrete would splatter. <br /> As with any concrete work, the nearby lawn is disrupted and the homeowner is left with re-landscaping. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Aurora, NY

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
