"Josh arrived on time, calling  ahead  the day before to verify and calling that day to say he was on his way. Every thing was spot treated and cleaned.  Some area rugs were done for free.  He was very thorough, professional, gracious, and considerate. He did not leave a mess behind."

"Cody at Carpet Barn was great! We had to switch from another flooring place in Little Rock (Arnold's Flooring America) after they were way over in square footage measurements. Should have checked Angie's List first. Cody picked up quickly on what we needed and he was on top of getting the job done. Cody always responded to my questions quickly. Workers were on time and efficient. Thanks, Cody and Carpet Barn! <br />"

"The guys were on time and did a great job. Very professional work getting my carpet back in place. Office staff when scheduling the job was very pleasant. It was hard to find someone to do this job so I'm so grateful they were able to handle it flawlessly. The carpet looks better then it did before the foundation work. <br>"

"I talked with these folks when I was getting estimates for replacing a staircase. They were very helpful and informative, to the point of helping me get in touch with someone who could install the staircase using hardwoods, rather than the flooring product that Custom Carpet. Hardwoods, they told me, sometimes perform better over time on staircases <br /> .I was especially impressed with their willingness to help me consider an option that met my needs better, even though it didn't make a sale for them."

"The laminate was laid in one day.  It was a long day, but the installers were meticulous and did a fantastic job!!  They removed the carpet, pad and all the glue, etc.  They laid the laminate, replaced the bottom of the baseboards and then cleaned up everything, and I do mean everything!!!!  There was no trash AT ALL left anywhere! <br /> The carpet was laid the next day.  It took 3 hours this included pulling up the old carpet and pad, laying the new carpet and then cleaning up everything yet again!  <br /> I will DEFINITELY use Akel's Carpet One any time I need flooring!!  I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!!!!!!!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Austin, AR

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
